In April 2022,the Ministry of Education issued the "Geography Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)".The new geography curriculum standard points out the direction for the new geography curriculum reform and talent cultivation of compulsory education in China.Since the new curriculum reform,geography education in rural junior high schools in ethnic areas has achieved some positive results.However,due to the poor educational foundation in ethnic areas,rural junior high school geography education as a whole still lags behind the national average.Promoting the comprehensive development of geography education in rural junior high schools in ethnic areas has become an important aspect of poverty alleviation in ethnic areas.This topic first uses literature analysis to analyze the current research status of geography education in rural junior high schools in ethnic minority areas under the new curriculum reform,both domestically and internationally,and writes a research review.Secondly,questionnaire survey,field interview,and classroom observation were used to conduct a field survey of the geographical education situation in five rural junior high schools in Shache County,Southern Xinjiang.Excel and SPSS software were used to conduct data statistics on the survey results,analyze the current situation of geographical education in rural junior high schools in ethnic minority areas under the new curriculum reform in China,and explore the difficulties and reasons encountered in rural junior high school geographical education in ethnic minority areas under the new curriculum reform.Finally,an attempt was made to analyze the difficulties and reasons from the perspective of students,teachers Exploring the countermeasures and outlet of geography education in rural junior high schools in ethnic areas under the new curriculum reform from three levels of education management.The research finds that students have a poor foundation and lack the initiative to learn;Geography teachers have weak teaching staff and limited energy;The management of geographical education is not in place,and the geographical assessment and evaluation mechanism is not sound.Therefore,the following countermeasures and suggestions are proposed: to consolidate students’ basic knowledge and improve their geographical learning initiative;Geography teachers should pay attention to self professional development and improve their teaching ability;Strengthen the management of geographical education and improve the geographical assessment and evaluation mechanism.The research in this article provides research ideas for relevant research on geography education in rural junior high schools in ethnic minority areas under the new curriculum reform,explores the path to poverty alleviation in rural junior high school geography education in Shache County,Southern Xinjiang,and hopes that in the future,the new geography curriculum reform can be smoothly implemented in rural junior high schools in ethnic minority areas.
