In order to develop sc physical education (P.E) in rural middle schools in minorities gathering areas in Guangxi, implement"sports and health curriculum standard"(brief name below: P.E New Curriculum Standard) on all sides, deepen P.E teaching and learning reform in rural elementary middle schools in Guangxi minorities gathering areas, the author in this thesis adopts literature, questionnaire, interview, spot surveys, statistics, logic analysis etc. the author made a research on problems resulting from the implementation of sports and health curriculum standard in four typical middle schools out of 40 rural middle schools in Guangxi minorities gathering areas , aiming at making a further study on problems resulting from implementing sports and health curriculum standard in the rural middle schools in minorities gathering areas in Guangxi, seeking solutions to them, and putting forward reasonable suggestions accordingly based on an investigation of P.E managing systems and their operation, P.E teaching and learning, sports grounds, equipment and facilities and teaching faculties in these areas, so that"P.E(and Health) Curriculum Standard"can be carried out smoothly in rural middle schools in minorities gathering areas in Guangxi and provide the governments'functioning departments and decision-making departments with first-hand materials about how to fully develop P.E in rural middle schools in minorities gathering areasThe promulgation of"The Decision of the State Council Concerning the Reform and Development of Basic Education"in June, 2001 means the start of the new round curriculum reform. Curriculum reform is on of the crucial tasks of the basic education reform. P.E is an important means for basic education and an inevitable part of the school curriculum system, therefore, P.E also undertakes hard reform tasks. China has experienced P.E curriculum reform for seven times, each gaining remarkable achievement. The recent P.E reform, which altered the curriculum pattern of having only required subjects, initially changing the situation of the over dominance on curriculum management, and develop experiments focusing on students'initiative learning and their achievements, became a basis for collecting experience for the current P.E curriculum reform. However, with the development of the times and progress of the society, some problems of the currents P.E curriculum turn out to be sharp day by day: Teaching concepts are backward; curriculum aims, curriculum contents and teaching methods are not consistent; the tasks for students'health education and moral education are not fulfilled; the teaching contents are"too difficult, too complicated, partial and out of date"; teaching methods are boring; the assessments over stress sports results; curriculum management are dominated and are not adaptive, ect.. all these problems lead to infulfillment of P.E curriculum aims and tasks, and are unfavorable for the students'all-round development.
