| "Women’s History Month" in the United States is celebrated in March by the National Women’s History Coalition, which sets an annual theme, produces educational materials, and selects specific women to be honored for their work.At the same time, community events, plays, essay contests, teaching and other activities are held to educate citizens about women’s history and promote improved perceptions of gender differences. This is a participatory process for all people, and it is also a process for students to integrate into society and learn at the pace of the times. After decades of development,"Women’s History Month" has become more and more important in society and in school education, during which students participate in various ways in the process of social activities and gradually develop a correct view of gender and historical literacy. The first chapter introduces the origins and development of "Women’s History Month" in the United States, and analyzes the thematic features of the event and its impact on history education and teaching. In the second chapter, based on the analysis of the theme of the 2020 campaign,we analyze the actual history education activities implemented in the United States during "Women’s History Month",using examples of the 2020 campaign to identify the impact of social activities on history education,as well as the impact on the infiltration of women’s history knowledge and the formation of a correct gender and historical perspective among students. The third chapter analyzes the current situation of history education and the teaching of women’s history in China based on the analysis of the results of the "Women’s History Month" teaching activities in the United States, conducts a questionnaire survey and interviews with teachers, analyzes the advantages and limitations of teaching women’s history, and conducts experimental teaching and study tours in the process of history education in secondary schools based on the ideas of the "Women’s History Month" activities in China. In general, under the situation where the Chinese state, society, and schools are jointly involved in history education, the process of cultivating core literacy in history requires that students are no longer confined to classroom learning.Students should go beyond the classroom and out of the school to understand history with the joint support of the state and society,to form a correct historical thinking pattern, and to further develop students’ core literacy in history. The idea of "Women’s History Month" in the U.S.will serve as a model for improving the way history education is taught in China,as well as penetrating the knowledge of women’s history. |
