Novel is a literary genre that reflects social life by depicting characters,and environment is the space where characters live.Environmental description in novel is an indispensable element of novel text,and teaching of environmental description should be an important part of novel teaching content.Under the guidance of the concept of "Chinese Curriculum Standard for Ordinary High Schools(2017 Edition)",this paper takes the teaching of environmental description of Chinese novels in high schools as the research object,and takes the teaching of classic novels in high school Chinese textbooks published by Jiangsu Education Edition and People’s Education Edition as an example,reveals the inefficient situation of environmental description teaching of high schools,combs the problems,analyzes the reasons,and then puts forward the teaching optimization strategy,and chooses the classic text "Lin Daiyu Entering Jiafu" to develop the teaching example of environmental description.The core content of the thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter combs the guidance and requirements of high school Chinese textbooks for novel environment description teaching,and clarifies that the value of novel environment description teaching can help students accurately understand the profound connotation of works,improve their literary appreciation ability,cultivate their sentiment and enhance their aesthetic feeling.The second chapter analyzes the teaching situation of environment description in high school novels.First of all,taking the classic novel titles in Jiangsu Education Press and People’s Education Press as examples,this paper summarizes the lesson examples from two angles of teaching content and teaching methods.At the same time,through interviews with front-line teachers,it describes the difficulties faced by the teaching of novel environment description in senior high schools,and reveals the problems and causes.It is found that the current teaching is ineffective in four aspects: teaching objectives,teaching content,teaching process and teaching evaluation,which are as follows: teachers are not aware of the importance of teaching objectives of novel environment and the expression of teaching objectives is general and vague;The proportion of environmental description teaching is small,the knowledge of teaching is outdated,the teaching is not hierarchical,and the teaching is uniform;Teachers’ environmental description teaching consciousness is weak,teaching methods are modeled,teaching caters to college entrance examination and template first;The evaluation methods are not rich enough,and the evaluation content is single.The main reasons are:teachers do not deeply understand the concepts related to curriculum standards and the requirements of teaching materials;The theoretical knowledge of teachers’ novel environment is lack of renewal,and the text interpretation needs to be deepened;Restriction of college entrance examination on environmental description teaching.The third chapter discusses the optimization strategy of environment description teaching in high school novels.Teachers urgently need to examine and improve their own knowledge of subject teaching,including knowledge about subject content,knowledge about learners,knowledge about teaching situations and knowledge about teaching methods;It is necessary to make use of valuable curriculum resources,including theoretical research results on novel environment,text interpretation documents on environment and high-quality lessons involving environmental description teaching;It is also necessary to follow a reasonable teaching design approach,that is,to achieve the unity of text style and students’ learning situation.The fourth chapter takes Lin Daiyu’s Entering Jiafu as an example to develop the teaching example of environmental description,which is also the practical application of the teaching strategy of the previous chapter.This paper presents the teaching design scheme and reflects on it,providing reference for senior high school teachers to carry out the teaching of novel environment description.
