| General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed in the Party’s twenty tenth report: "the implementation of the new development concept is the road to development and growth of China in the new era",as China’s economic development enters a new stage,quality development has become a new requirement for China’s economic development,and there is a need to improve the quality and efficiency of economic development to achieve China’s modern style of development.Higher education plays a critical role in advancing regional economic development through the provision of essential functions such as talent cultivation,scientific research,and social and economic services.This is especially crucial under the new development paradigm,which calls for a greater emphasis on the integral connection of scientific research,social and economic services,and regional economic development.By improving the quality and efficiency of these services,we can promote sustainable growth and achieve our developmental goals,higher education is bound to be more closely integrated with regional economy to achieve high-quality and synergistic development of both.Therefore,this study explores the path of synergistic development of higher education and regional economy in Hubei and Shaanxi based on the new development concept.In this study,entropy value method and coupled coordination model were applied to analyze the coupled coordination degree of higher education and regional economy in Hubei and Shaanxi from 2010 to 2020,and the regional economy.However,there are also many opportunities and advantages to be gained from the synergistic development of these two areas.The SWOT analysis revealed that by taking advantage of the strengths and opportunities,such as Hubei and Shaanxi’s abundant resources and supportive government policies,it is possible to overcome the weaknesses and challenges,such as the insufficient coordination between higher education and the regional economy,and achieve a sustainable and coordinated development of both areas,resource allocation,financial investment,talent cultivation and scientific research output in the two provinces,which lead to the problems of low social service economic capacity of higher education,disconnection between education structure and industrial structure,brain drain and low recognition of graduates to cities,this has resulted in a lack of synergy between higher education and regional economic development in both provinces.In this regard,based on the new development concept,this study proposes relevant countermeasures from five perspectives: innovation,coordination,green,openness,to meet the demands of high-quality development of higher education and a sustainable economy in the new era,we enhance the competitiveness of the higher education sector by innovating our approach to education and talent development,coordinating and optimizing the allocation of higher education resources,fostering a green education system,and refining teaching methods,all while promoting greater openness and the sharing of educational resources,accelerate the conversion rate of higher education scientific research,enhance the economic service capacity of higher education,increase the matching degree of higher education and industrial structure,the objective is to enhance the alignment between higher education and the industrial structure,fulfill the diverse requirements of economic progress,and advance the high-caliber and enduring growth of the economy.This will stimulate the coordinated development of higher education and regional economy across the two provinces,and provide certain reference significance for other regions. |
