Research On The Marriage And Childbearing Views Of Young People In Small Towns And Analysis Of Influencing Factor

In recent years,researches on the view of marriage and childbirth among urban youngsters are likely to be a one-sided trend of “late marriage and reluctance to marriage and childbirth among the young.” But what about the view among the“small-town youngsters”,who take up a large proportion of China’s overall youth population? In the paper,small-town youngsters from different towns were investigated and finally concluded results and the related factors in the perspective of sociology.In the paper,by means of questionnaire and interview,there are 375 young people from some towns in Guizhou Province,aged 18 to 40,were surveyed in terms of the view of spouse choice,marriage,childbirth and parenting.According to the results,the view can be generally listed as follows: firstly,in terms of spouse choice,most youngsters tend to decide on the spouse on their own,with the focus on the good personality and positive attitude of the other,but the outdated idea of “men superior to women” still exists;secondly,as for marriage,young men tend to have a high-quality marriage at a prime age,and the men’s will for marriage is stronger than women’s.Thirdly,speaking of childbirth,most youngsters expect to have twins at the prime age,regardless of the baby’s sex and with diverse purposes for baby birth;fourthly,with respect to parenting,under heavy pressure on parenting,small-town young people focus on the quality,but the male hardly get involved,mostly turning to the way of babysitting.In the perspective of sociology,the paper concludes the factors above from individuals,families as well as society.Firstly,sex educational level,financial and living condition are the immediate cause for the views;secondly,the willingness to marriage and the number of children are mostly influence by family structure,cross-generational support and the family-oriented tradition;thirdly,peers,mass media and cultural background influence the spouse choice and marriage and childbirth purpose.Above all,effective measures are put forward as follows: 1.promote the economic development to improve the employment quality;2.perfect related laws and regulations to safeguard the rights of women;3.diversify education facilities to enhance the quality of parenting;4.guide social media to play its positive role to promote gender equality;5.deepen the awareness of family responsibility and to lessen the babysitting burden on elder generation.
