Lying is the act of deliberately passing on untruthful information that brings benefits to oneself or harms others. How to reduce lying has always been a matter of close attention in education and academia. On the basis of previous research, this study adopts the experimental paradigm of resisting temptation to study the influence of the nature of role model demonstraation and the consequences of role model behavior on children’s lying behavior, and to further explore the delayed effect of observational learning. This study was designed as a series of experiments.Three experiments were used to verify the research hypothesis based on observational learning theory step by step.Experiment 1 :Imitation learning experiment,to explore whether the nature of the role model will affect the lying behavior of the observers. The children in the experimental group watched the honest role model(peek and then confessed)and the lying role model(the peek did not confess)in the game, while the children in the control group did not see the role model, and then participated in another game against temptation to record the children’s lying behavior,The experimental results showed that the demonstrative nature of the role model did not affect the lying behavior of the observers.Experiment 2:The reward and punishment control experiment,to explore whether the reward and punishment consequences of the model behavior affect the observer’s lying behavior. The children in the experimental group watched the honest role models receive double material and spiritual rewards, only received spiritual rewards, and the lying role models received both material and spiritual punishment, and only received spiritual punishment.Consequences, then participate in another resist temptation game to document children’s lying behavior. The experimental results showed that mental reward, double reward and double punishment can effectively inhibit children’s lying behavior, but mental punishment cannot effectively inhibit children’s lying behavior.Experiment 3:Observation and learning delay effect experiment,to explore whether the reward and punishment consequences of observing the behavior of the model will still have an impact on the lying behavior of the observer after a week of delay.Rewards and lying role models still inhibited observers’ lying behavior one week after being punished both physically and mentally.Based on the above research results, the following educational suggestions are put forward on how to shape children’s honest behavior: when shaping children’s honest behavior, they should guide them;when using the model method, let children see the consequences of the example; When rewarding and punishing,it is necessary to pay attention to the educational effect produced by spiritual rewards and punishments;behavior modeling must be persevering in order to achieve quality;when modeling behaviors by example, one must also know the truth and be emotional.
