The unified version of the senior secondary language textbook is designed with a sense of integration, especially the unit introduction as one of the learning support systems, which plays a unifying and guiding role in the teaching of the unit. This article focuses on the compulsory and optional compulsory units of the Unified Edition of senior secondary language, analyses in depth the features, concepts and theoretical bases of the unit introductions, implements the core literacy concepts of the language subjects as emphasised in the new curriculum, and implements the unit learning task clusters, and follows the two-line meta-structure model of "humanistic themes + learning task clusters" of the new Unified Edition of language teaching materials. This book is an exploration of the value of unit introductions, with a view to providing useful insights into the use of unit introductions in the teaching practice of front-line teachers in secondary schools. The main body of this thesis, excluding the introduction and conclusion,is divided into four sections. The first chapter analyses the types and rationale for writing unit introductions in the UCSE language. In terms of types, they are divided into three categories: "learning task groups","activities and investigations" and "whole book reading".The rationale for writing them includes: humanistic learning theories, constructivist theories, prior organiser strategies, implementation of the concept of moral education, and the formation and development of core literacies. The types and rationale of the unified version of the senior secondary language unit introduction reflect the unity of purpose,i.e.to realise the goal of developing core literacy in the language subject and to act as a bridge in the implementation of teaching tasks.Chapter 2 compares the similarities and differences between the Unified Edition and the Humanities Edition unit introductions in terms of content, form, relevance to other systems, and function, from which the characteristics of the writing of the Unified Edition unit introductions for high school languages are derived. In terms of content,it clarifies the teaching of the unit topic, implements the objectives of the learning task group, reveals the important and difficult points of the unit teaching, and suggests the teaching methods of the unit.In terms of form, the paragraphs are evenly distributed, the language expresses the unity of emotion and reason, and the illustrations show the themes. In terms of relevance to other systems,it complements the learning tips and unifies them with the unit’s learning tasks.Functionally, they reveal unit themes, guide learning resources, set learning tasks and point to learning activities. The features of the unified version of the senior secondary language unit introduction reflect the concept of integration and realise the unity of the instrumental and humanistic nature of the language subject.Chapter 3,Suggestions for the use of the introduction to the UCSE language units. This chapter analyses two main aspects, namely the basis for using the recommendations and the recommendations and instructions for using them.Among them, the bases for the proposed use of the unit introduction of the Unified Edition of senior secondary language include:the General Senior Secondary Language Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition2020 Revision),the characteristics of the Unit Introduction of the Unified Edition of senior secondary language, the current situation and development trend of the teaching of the Unified Edition of senior secondary language, etc.Based on this, this paper puts forward suggestions for its use: to realise the development and enhancement of thinking based on humanistic themes when teaching in concrete practice;and to develop large units of teaching based on learning task clusters.Chapter 4,Case design of using unit introductions in the Unified Edition of senior secondary language. This chapter takes Unit 2 of the compulsory upper volume of the Unified Edition senior secondary language textbook as an example to develop a large unit of teaching practice in a task-driven format,to put into practice the value and role of unit introductions in teaching practice and to implement the objectives of core literacy in the language subject. In summary, the introduction of the unified version of the high school language unit plays a unifying and leading role in integrating the content of the unit and pointing to the design of the large unit of teaching,is an effective way for teachers to achieve the task of "single" and "group" teaching, and is a powerful means for students to learn the content of the unit independently. It promotes the two-way development of both teachers and students, and carries through the new curriculum’s emphasis on the concept of core literacy in language subjects, reflecting the function of nurturing people and implementing the fundamental task of establishing moral education. Therefore, the systematic study of the introduction of the unified version of the high school language units and the suggestions for their use have both theoretical and practical significance, with a view to providing a reference implementation path for the improvement of teaching materials and front-line teachers and students, and facilitating the two-way development of teaching and learning.
