Entrepreneurship has great potential in realizing personal value, relieving employment pressure and promoting economic and social development. We have endeavored to promote a good situation for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. However, entrepreneurship is a complex activity, which requires careful arrangement and planning. The generation of such planned behaviors is based on the will of the individuals.Encouraging entrepreneurship is ultimately to stimulate and cultivate the individual’s entrepreneurial intention. Therefore, this study chooses entrepreneurial intention as the foothold, and the purpose is to explore the formation mechanism of the entrepreneurial intention.Considering that most entrepreneurs in reality are young and middle-aged individuals who have entered the society, rich prior experience and strong family consciousness are the obvious characteristics that distinguish such individuals from students who have been widely concerned by previous studies.Based on that, this study focuses on non-student individuals.Inspired by the theory of planned behavior and family embeddedness perspective,we construct a moderated mediation model with prior experience as the independent variable, family support as the moderating variable, individual’s entrepreneurial attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control as the mediating variable, and entrepreneurial intention as the dependent variable.Using SPSS,regression analysis and hypothesis testing were conducted on 311non-student samples obtained from the questionnaire survey. This study draws the following conclusions: first, wideness of prior experience or positiveness of prior experience has a positive effect on individual’s entrepreneurial intention;Second, individual’s entrepreneurial attitude and perceived behavioral control play a mediating role in the effect of wideness of prior experience or positiveness of prior experience on individual entrepreneurial intention.Thirdly, family support plays a positive moderating role on the mediating path of wideness of prior experience or positiveness of prior experience influencing entrepreneurial intention through perceived behavioral control. In theory, the model obtained in this study is a creative application of the original TPB model, revealing the mechanisms of prior experience and family support on the entrepreneurial intention, enriching researches on the topic of entrepreneurial intentions. In practice, the conclusions drawn from this study provide guidance for potential entrepreneurs, their families and policy makers to think about how to improve entrepreneurial intentions.
