| By the end of 2020,our country has completed the task of tackling poverty in the new era and eliminating absolute poverty. The ’ decision ’of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made it clear that to ’ consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation and establish a long-term mechanism to solve relative poverty ’,relative poverty caused by unbalanced and inadequate economic development became the focus of poverty alleviation and development in the next stage.Due to the historical characteristics of large poverty area, large number of people, deep degree and complex causes of poverty, the relative poverty and deeper poverty problems in the western region of China need to be solved urgently. After poverty alleviation,it is still the key support area for national rural revitalization. The fundamental purpose of all poverty alleviation work is to promote the common prosperity of all people.Reducing income polarization is a necessary condition for achieving universal prosperity on the basis of poverty.Income mobility reflects the fairness of family income distribution and the degree of class solidification from the perspective of social dynamics. It mainly examines the distribution and changes of individual or family income at the intra-generational and intergenerational levels. The former mainly examines the changes in the income level of a certain income class group after a period of time, while the latter reflects the changes in the relative economic status between the children and the parents in the same family.Under the above background, exploring the mobility characteristics of the income class in the western region of China can provide scientific basis for the rationalization of income distribution in the region, the consolidation of poverty alleviation results and the effective convergence of rural revitalization strategy and policy implementation. It is of great significance to study the rigorous measurement and influencing factors of income mobility in the western region of China. This study uses the data of the five-period household micro-tracking survey from the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)database from 2010 to 2018 to study the intra-generational and intergenerational income mobility of residents in the western region from the individual and family levels.First of all, using the income transfer matrix combined with relevant indicators to measure and analyze the current situation of residents ’ income mobility in the western region of China, and preliminarily grasp its evolution trend.Secondly, based on the multi-classification logistic regression model and the two-stage least squares regression model, the influencing factors of intergenerational income mobility and the transmission mechanism of intergenerational income mobility of residents in the western region of China are empirically analyzed. Finally, based on the conclusions of the study, policy recommendations are put forward to improve the income distribution gap in the western region.Through the study of this paper, the following main conclusions are obtained.(1)There is a problem of income class solidification in the western region of China, and the phenomenon of income two-level solidification is particularly serious. The overall intra-generation income shows an upward trend, and the degree of mobility is decreasing.(2)There is a phenomenon of intergenerational transmission of poverty in families in the western region from 2010 to 2018.The overall intergenerational income elasticity generally shows a ’ M ’ fluctuation trend, and the intergenerational income mobility is decreasing, and generally upward mobility.(3)Through the grouping study,it is found that the income level of rural families in the western region is more dependent on the income level of their parents;female offspring families have the highest degree of intergenerational transmission of poverty, followed by the overall level, and male offspring families are the lowest.Relatively low-income groups(offspring income ranking after 50%)family intergenerational income mobility is weaker than the overall level of residents in the western region.(4)The income class in the base period, urbanization rate, age of residents, household registration and the number of housing owned are the main factors affecting the intergenerational income mobility of residents in the western region.(5)Human capital and social capital are the main causal mechanisms of intergenerational income transmission of residents in the western region of China. |
