Research On The Difference And Influencing Factors Of Regional Economic Development In Central China

The central part of China,with rich resources and coastal areas in the east and inland areas in the west,is an important transportation hub in China.From the perspective of national strategy,the rise of central China has become the focus of China’s future development.At the Central Economic Work Conference from December 18 to 20,2017,General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly proposed promoting the rise of the central region."14th five-year plan" put forward to promote the central region to accelerate the rise of the future as a key work.On July 22,2021,the Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and The State Council on Promoting High-quality Development in the Central Region in the New Era(hereinafter referred to as the Opinions)were released.The Opinions call for leading industrial development with scientific and technological innovation,forming a new system of high-level openingup in the inland region,and further pointing out the direction for high-quality development in the central region.Promoting high-quality development in the central region is of overall significance.Compared with the goals and requirements of the Opinions,the six provinces in central China are not well connected economically,and the problem of unbalanced and inadequate development is still quite prominent.To realize the comprehensive rise of the central region,we should not only rely on a few provincial capitals,but promote the coordinated and rapid economic development of each city.Therefore,it is necessary to objectively analyze the economic differences between cities in the central region,explore the reasons leading to the economic differences between cities in the central region,and put forward corresponding solutions.At present,most of the researches on regional economic difference take the whole central region or county region as the research object,but lack of researches from the perspective of city region.Moreover,from the perspective of the research on the influencing factors,there are still few studies on the impact of the interaction and superposition of the two factors on the economic difference,and the leading influencing factors of the regional economic difference in central China cannot be accurately identified.In this context,87 prefecture-level cities in central China are selected as the research object,and the per capita GDP from 2001 to 2019 is selected as the index.Relying on the theory of regional economic growth,standard deviation,range,Theil index and coefficient of variation are adopted to analyze the temporal evolution characteristics of regional economic development in central China.ARCGIS software was used to plot the trajectory of the center of gravity of urban economy in central China,and Jenks optimal natural fracture point classification method was used to cluster the per capita GDP of urban areas in central China to explore the spatial differentiation pattern.On this basis,according to the actual situation of the central region development,combined with the existing literature from ten factors,using the central geographic probes,model in the dominant impact factors of regional economic differences,and detect impact factor’s influence on the economic differences of the interaction between,in order to provide reference for the study of regional economic coordinated development in central China.The results show that: first,from the perspective of time dimension,the absolute difference of the level of urban economic development in central China shows a linear trend of increasing from 2001 to 2019,and the relative difference shows a trend of "rising first and then falling".The main cause of the urban economic difference in central China is the intra-group difference.Second,from the perspective of spatial dimension,the level of urban economic development in the central region shows a positive spatial correlation,but the maximum value of global Moran’s I is only 0.26,indicating that the degree of spatial agglomeration between cities in the central region is low and the degree of economic connection between cities is not high.In addition,from the perspective of the spatial distribution of regional economic development level,in addition to the part of the resource-based cities fluctuate,economic development level in central China higher concentration distribution in the provincial capital and capital,and the low level of economic development of cities in central China concentrated in the southwest mountainous area,the loess plateau in the northwest,the dabie mountains,qinling area;From the perspective of the trajectory of the economic center of gravity,the overall direction of the economic center of gravity from 2001 to2019 was southeast,and the economic center of gravity was concentrated in the junction of Henan province and Hubei Province,and the eastern and southern regions were the economic high-density zones in the central region.Thirdly,the regional economic difference in central China is the result of a variety of factors,among which the leading factors are human capital,financial development level and industrial structure.Through the interaction detection,it is found that the interaction between industrial structure and the degree of opening to the outside world has the strongest influence on the regional economic disparities in central China,with an explanation degree of 0.7823.According to the research results,in order to promote the coordinated economic development of the central region,this paper believes that the current priority is to increase investment in education,cultivate emerging industrial clusters,and help the high-quality development of the central region.Second,we will speed up the construction of inland opening channels and promote industrial transformation and upgrading in the central region.Thirdly,we should develop characteristic industries according to local conditions.Finally,we should strengthen the awareness of inter-provincial cooperation and enhance the overall competitiveness of the central region.
