Research On Sustainable Tourism Development Of Phu Quoc Island, Vietna

Thanks to economic development,people’s quality of life is improving a lot.On the basis of good economic conditions,people also pursue leisure and entertainment and a better life.Tourism has also been further developed.As a coastal country,Vietnam has the total coastline of 3,260 kilometers,which brings not only convenience to Vietnam’s economic development,but also huge island natural resources to Vietnam’s tourism industry.At present,Halong Bay,Da Nang,Nha Trang,Phu Quoc Island,etc.are the world-famous seaside tourist attractions in Vietnam.Phu Quoc Island,which is located at the southernmost tip of Vietnam,with mild and cool weather as well as beautiful natural landscapes,is very suitable for island vacation travel.There are a wide range of recreational activities in Island vacation tours such as coral diving,sailing,cuttlefish fishing,yacht trips,beach tours and so on.Besides,Phu Quoc Island is an international tourist destination that the Vietnamese government is currently focusing on developing a service-oriented economy.It is one of the most popular tourist attractions for Vietnamese tourists in particular and all other international ones in general.The number of tourists is increasing year by year.According to relevant statistics,Phu Quoc Island welcomed nearly 5.23 million domestic and foreign tourists in 2019.This thesis selects "Research on the Sustainable Development of Tourism in Phu Quoc Island,Vietnam" as the research topic.Its main objectives are to study the current situation of sustainable tourism development in Phu Quoc Island,to find out its existing problems and to put forward corresponding sustainable development strategies.The main content of the thesis is divided into eight following parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the author’s reason for choosing the topic,research background,research purpose and research significance,research methods,and a review of the research at home and abroad.The second chapter is related to the concept definition and theoretical basis of this thesis.The third chapter presents the basic information of Phu Quoc Island,natural resources and human geography of Phu Quoc Island,summarizes and analyzes the development details of Phu Quoc tourism through field investigation.The fourth chapter is to analise the results of the questionnaire survey about tourists in Phu Quoc Island.The fifth chapter is to use SWOT analysis to analyze the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and threats of tourism development in Phu Quoc Island.This part helps consider the advantages and existing problems from internal factors,and consider the opportunities and threats that Phu Quoc tourism may encounter from objective factors.Accordingly,we can reasonably solve the encountered problems in tourism development as well as find the path of sustainable tourism development.The obstacles and threats to Phu Quoc can help promote the sustainable development of tourism in Phu Quoc.The sixth chapter is based on the results of the actual investigation and SWOT analysis,and proposes the sustainable development strategy of Phu Quoc Island tourism.The seventh chapter is the conclusion of the study,summarizing the results obtained by the study,the problems that have not been completely solved,and the author’s shortcomings and prospects.
