Research On The Sustainable Development Of Emergy Analysis In Island’s Eco-tourism

The21st century is the Ocean century，to develop marine economy has becomethe world’s common goal. As the yuanshe base and advanced pivot to exploit theOcean，island is widely developed，island eco-tourism of which the main method ofOcean development is also flourishing. In this context，how to coordinate therelationship between island environment and the tourism economy has become notonly the focus of attention，but also a serious problem in sustainable development ofisland eco-tourism.In this study，the emergy analysis theory and method were applied to research thesystem of island eco-tourism and to establish an evaluation system of emergy indexeswhich was used to quantitatively analyze the structure，function，eco-efficiency，economic benefit and sustainable development of island eco-tourism system. Theresult provided a objective criteria for assessing island environment resources andtourism activities with the purpose of providing scientific basis for future sustainabledevelopment of island eco-tourism. This paper reviews those researches about islandtourism and emergy theory at domestic and aboard，introduces the sustainabledevelopment theory and emergy theory，defines emergy of Island eco-tourism，compares the differences between emergy-value analysis and other methods，elaborates the necessity of Island eco-tourism emergy analysis，meanwhile，sets up theemergy analysis index system of Island eco-tourism sustainable development basedon the method of quantitative assessment. Based on the data of Changdao during2003-2010period，the results of empirical research are following：（1）The systemstructure is not reasonable，although tourism investment is increasing year by year，but still too low，so it is necessary to increase tourism input such as manpower， materials and financial resources.（2）The system function is relative complete，theproduction efficiency is raising，at the same time， tourism competitiveness iscontinuously enhancing. However，the use efficiency of local resources is a littlelower in tourism activities（.3）The system eco-efficiency is gradually decreasing，theenvironmental loading rate is increasing year by year. High-intensity use of emergyhas resulted in pressure on island environment. Although per capita waste emissions isreducing，the total waste emissions is increasing due to the increasing number ofvisitors. Therefore，it is important to strengthen waste recycling and reusing.（4）The system economic benefits is continuously reinforcing. Both tourism income andeco-tourism income are raising. With the increase of tourism investment return rate，the attraction force of eco-tourism in Changdao is also enhancing（.5）The sustainableand potential capacity of eco-tourism system is relatively strong，but in order topromote Changdao eco-tourism sustainable development，its system structure remainsto be adjusted，optimized and upgraded（.6）Based on R principal component analysis，five key emergy indexes which are effected sustainable development capacity ofChangdao eco-tourism were screened out. They are respectively environmentalloading ratio，emergy density，tourism input ratio，emergy waste rate and neteconomic benefit rate.The last， the dynamic simulation model of Changdaoeco-tourism system sustainable development appraisal is set up.Based on the quantitative study of Changdao，some measures are about tosuggesting to develop Changdao eco-tourism. Firstly，by increasing the tourism inputto make the eco-tourism system optimized. Secondly，by controlling environmentpollution to reduce the system pressure. Thirdly，by promoting the advantages offishery to elevate the grade of fisher household tourism. Fourthly，by designing thediversification of tourism products to establish the tourism brand of eco-Changdao.Fifthly，by using the brand of “Friendly Shandong” to carry out tourist destinationmarketing. In the end of this research，the deficiency is summarized and the futureresearch prospect is forecasted.
