Research On The Impact Of Smart City Construction On The High-Quality Development Of Urban Economy

The growth rate of China’s economy has changed from the previous high-speed to today’s high-quality development.As an important spatial carrier of economic development,the problem of the lack of traditional development power,the conflict between production development and ecological protection,and the reduction of people’s happiness and satisfaction is becoming more and more important to be solved urgently.Considered with the reality of our country’s development,this paper discusses whether the innovative urban development pattern will promote the transformation of development mode,change the energy power of economy,improve the level of social governance and realize high-quality economic development.Firstly,combs the smart city and high-quality economic development from theory and practice aspects.By reading the literature,we can understand what issues scholars pay attention to in smart cities and high-quality economic development and organize them.By collecting government announcements and relevant reports,we can learn more about the practical development of the smart city,and combine with the relevant theories of regional economics and urban economics to analyze the influence of smart city construction on the high-quality economic development.Secondly,based on the sorting out of relevant literature on high-quality development,expounds the implication of high-quality development of economy,and constructs an index system for evaluation of sample city,and analyzes the high-quality development from the national average level and the individual city level.Then,uses the panel data of 229 prefecture-level cities in China from 2005 to 2019 with multiperiod difference-in-difference model to study the influence of smart city construction on the high-quality development of China’s urban economy.The main research conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The index system constructed in this paper can reflect the high-quality development level of cities to a certain extent.On the whole,the national average level of high-quality development fluctuates less,and there are spatial differences in the level of high-quality development between cities,the difference is gradually narrowing.(2)The smart city construction can significantly promote the high-quality development of urban economy;in addition,this result can be tested by year-by-year matching PSM-DID test,replacement of explained variables and data shrinkage processing robustness test.(3)Through theoretical mechanism analysis and empirical testing,it is found that smart city construction can promote high-quality urban economic development by optimizing industrial structure and attracting professional talents.Through theoretical analysis and model test,it is found that large cities with a population of more than 3million and megacities with a population of more than 5 million,as well as cities with higher levels of human capital,higher levels of financial support,and higher levels of information infrastructure construction have better effects of smart city construction,and have better impact on the high-quality development of urban economy.According to the results of related research,so as to promote the quality of the urban economy development through the construction of smart cities,this paper brings forward the following suggestions:(1)catch hold of the policy opportunities to promote the construction of smart cities;(2)promote the proportion of intelligent urban industries and improve the production efficiency of industrial sectors;(3)pay attention to the development of talents,enhance the city’s innovation ability;(4)it is necessary to adapt measures to the city’s conditions,and promote the construction of smart cities in an orderly manner;(5)it is necessary to adopt hard power and soft power together to avoid the construction of smart cities falling into technical and capital traps.
