Abstract/Summary:
Mega-events refer to one-time events or events held regularly in a specific period, which can bring a lot of tourism, media coverage and economic and social benefits to the host city in a short period of time. The main types include local festivals, sports activities, cultural activities and large-scale exhibitions, etc.Domestic and international media reports create a new image and identity for the host city.Activities usually help to meet the economic and cultural needs of local residents, and will have a long-term impact on the cities and residents hosting these activities. The event will not only bring local economic development and environmental improvement, but also enrich residents’ lives and improve their consumption level and quality of life.In May 2017,at the "the belt and road initiative" International Cooperation Forum,President Xi announced that China would hold China International Import Expo(CIIE)from2018.By 2021,CIIE has been successfully held for three times and will continue to hold it.As the international convention and exhibition capital of Shanghai, large and small exhibition activities are held regularly. As the host city of Shanghai,Shanghai residents are the direct bearers of this large-scale event in CIIE,which may be affected in social, economic and environmental aspects.Mega-events involve many interest groups.Mega-events led by the government, the degree of trust in the government affects residents’ willingness to support the activities to a certain extent.Exploring the antecedents and formation mechanism of residents’ willingness to support Mega-events is an important factor to promote the sustainable holding of activities, which has aroused the research upsurge of scholars at home and abroad.Based on social exchange theory,cognition-emotion-behavior theory and stakeholder theory, with government trust as independent variable, activity influence perception and quality of life as intermediary, and activity attachment as adjustment, taking China International Import Expo held in Shanghai as an example,407 valid questionnaires were obtained through the survey of Shanghai residents, and the influence mechanism of government trust on residents’ willingness to support large-scale activities was quantitatively analyzed. The results show that government trust positively significantly affects residents’ perceived benefits and quality of life, while negatively significantly affects perceived costs of activities, but has no direct impact on willingness to support.Activity attachment has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between government trust and perceived benefits, and has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between government trust and perceived costs.Perceived cost has a negative impact on willingness to support, perceived benefits and quality of life have a positive impact on willingness to support activities, and quality of life and perception of activity influence play an intermediary role between government trust and willingness to support.
