| Agricultural production mechanization is of great significance to improve production efficiency and promote the high-quality development and modernization of agriculture in China.Under the current situation of small per capita cultivated land and scattered plots, agricultural machinery service is an effective way to realize production mechanization.Despite the rapid growth of agricultural machinery service market, there are some urgent problems to be solved, such as low service utilization rate and poor operation quality. There is a principal-agent relationship between agricultural machinery operation service providers and farmers.Because of asymmetric information and inconsistent interest goals with farmers, providers may take opportunistic behavior that harm the interests of farmers, which is particularly evident in trans-regional operation services.Compared with local providers, foreign providers have greater mobility and lower embedding level in local society. This makes it more difficult for farmers to supervise afterwards and punish suppliers. While promoting the supply quantity of agricultural machinery services, the supply quality also needs to be improved.More attention should be paid to the operation quality, especially in promoting small farmers to integrate into the modern agricultural production method. The existing research pays insufficient attention to the supply side of agricultural machinery service, while there is a lack of research on the impact of transregional operation on operation quality and its mechanism. Therefore,in order to explore whether trans-regional operation has an impact on operation quality and how its impact mechanism is,firstly, this paper analyzes the possibility of providers’ opportunistic behavior through game method, and the impact of trans-regional operation on operation quality from the perspective of providers’ opportunistic behavior.Secondly, based on the survey data of corn growers in Inner Mongolia, this paper empirically tests whether there are significant differences in operation quality between local and foreign providers by using econometric model. Finally, this paper explains the behavior mechanism behind the formation of quality differences through the method of agent-based modeling. The main conclusions are as follows:First, theoretical analysis shows that there are differences in transaction costs and social embeddedness between local and foreign providers, which may increase the possibility of foreign providers to implement opportunistic behavior.Second, empirical analysis shows that trans-regional operation is significantly negatively correlated with operation quality. In general, the operation quality of local providers is better than that of foreign providers.Third, the simulation analysis shows that the transaction cost and social embeddedness level affect the opportunistic behavior of providers through the reputation mechanism and transaction frequency,so as to affect the operation quality.Based on the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward the policy enlightenment of using modern information network technology to build a service information platform, formulate and popularize unified operation quality standards, increase the subsidies of intermediary service organizations, and establish a special agricultural machinery operation quality supervision department. |
