China has entered a new stage of development. At present and for some time in the future,China’s development is still in an important period of strategic opportunities, and its further development is facing new opportunities and challenges. In this context,it is particularly important to speed up the construction of a new development pattern with domestic circulation as the main body and domestic and international double circulation promoting each other.Scientific and technological innovation is the key variable to build a new development pattern, and enterprises are the main body of scientific and technological innovation, among which private scientific and technological enterprises are the main force of enterprise innovation. Therefore,in order to improve the operating performance of private science and technology enterprises, this paper uses the financial performance evaluation tool to assess 157 sample private science and technology enterprises from 2015 to 2019,and archives and classifies the sample private science and technology enterprises,so as to grasp the financial performance of private science and technology enterprises, find out the problems in their operation, and put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. Therefore,on the basis of literature review and related basic theories, this paper constructs the financial performance evaluation index system of private science and technology enterprises from the four dimensions of profitability, solvency, operation ability and growth ability based on the principles of consistency, comprehensiveness, importance, adaptability and operability. On this basis, this paper selects 157 listed private science and technology enterprises from 2015 to 2019 as the research samples, evaluates their financial performance based on the entropy method, and uses the progressive average method to classify the sample private science and technology enterprises according to the evaluation results. The results show that:from 2015 to 2019,the profitability, operation ability and growth ability of China’s private science and technology enterprises show a downward trend as a whole, and the internal ability dimensions of financial performance are unbalanced, and the performance level of the industry is quite different.Based on the above problems,in order to improve the financial performance of China’s private science and technology enterprises and promote the healthy development of private science and technology enterprises, from the enterprise level, this paper puts forward some suggestions on improving the business model, avoiding the risk of bad debts, strengthening independent innovation, balancing internal performance and narrowing industry differences. From the government level, this paper puts forward some suggestions to improve the financing environment of private science and technology enterprises, encourage the technological innovation of private science and technology enterprises and create a favorable benign market competition pattern.Throughout the full text, the main innovation of this paper is reflected in two aspects:one is to take the private science and technology enterprises as the object of financial performance evaluation, and the entropy method as the method of financial performance evaluation,to evaluate the financial performance of private science and technology enterprises, which fills the relevant blank in the research field of financial performance evaluation of private science and technology enterprises.Secondly,it uses the progressive average method to classify the private science and technology enterprises, which fills the blank of the research on the classification of private science and technology enterprises.
