Nowadays,in the knowledge economy age, knowledge resource,as a unique resource of enterprises, plays a central role in the formation of enterprises’ core competitiveness and innovation performance promotion.Nevertheless,as enterprises gradually change from closed innovation to open innovation,it is difficult to achieve innovation goals and improve competitive advantages only by relying on their own existing knowledge and resources. Therefore, external knowledge search becomes one of the effective methods to promote corporation innovation and plays a key role in innovation activities. However,in the process of the shift towards open innovation,Chinese enterprises failed to give full play to the positive role of external knowledge search. As a result, some enterprises have problems in the process of open innovation, such as lack of innovation resources, high dependence of key and core technologies, insufficient innovation achievements and imperfect innovation system, which makes it difficult for companies to make timely adjustments to internal and external environment changes and make the performance of innovation better.Consequently, from the perspective of knowledge fusion, this paper explores the impact of external knowledge search on enterprise innovation performance, which is conducive to improving enterprises’ awareness and enthusiasm of open innovation, promoting the output of innovation results, and providing theoretical reference and practical guidance to improve national economic development quality and enhance international competitiveness. In this paper, starting from the perspective of knowledge fusion, knowledge search theory, knowledge basic theory and open innovation theory as a guide, using empirical analysis method to reveal the influence of external knowledge search to the enterprise innovation performance, which helps to clarify the role of external knowledge search to the performance of corporate innovation. It is beneficial for the enterprises to improve the enthusiasm of carrying out external knowledge search activities. It also helps to improve enterprise innovation performance and to help enterprises achieve sustained and healthy development. At first, this paper review and analysis related existing research achievements to give the definition of related variables and dimensions.Secondly, from the process of knowledge fusion, introduce integration as a mediator variable, internal knowledge base, knowledge governance and environmental turbulence as moderators.Based on the existing research results, the relationships among variables are sorted out,and corresponding research hypotheses and theoretical models are constructed. Finally, with the help of two sorts of software related to data analysis, namely SPSS23.0 and AMOS20.0,320 sample data were analyzed to empirically test the relevant hypotheses among various variables. The empirical results show that both search width and search depth positively affect the performance of innovation, knowledge integration has a mediating effect between them.Internal knowledge base positively moderates the relationship between external knowledge search and knowledge integration. Both dimensions of knowledge governance play a positive moderating role in knowledge integration and firm innovation performance.Environmental turbulence inhibits the positive effect of search width on firm innovation performance. Finally, based on the empirical results, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward for the improvement of enterprise innovation performance.
