Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy Development On China’s Inter-provincial Trade

Since the reform and opening up,China has actively integrated into the international economic cycle,and its economic development has entered the stage of high-quality development from a high-speed growth stage,and has achieved amazing results during the period.However,in recent years,with the increasingly complicated international relations and the world economic situation,the international economic circulation capacity has weakened significantly.In this context,the focus of China’s economic development has gradually shifted to the domestic market,looking forward to building a new development pattern of mutual promotion of domestic large-cycle and promoting domestic dual-cycle in China,thereby promoting steady economic development.The digital economy,as an important tool to enable high-quality economic development,is of strategic importance to the development of domestic and foreign trade linkages and the construction of a unified national market,This article measured the digital economy development index and inter-provincial trade flow index in various provinces and cities in China from 2011 to 2017,this paper investigates the theoretical mechanism and spatial spillover effects of the digital economy affecting inter-provincial trade in China by using various empirical methods such as two-way fixed effect,intermediary effect model and spatial Durbin model on the basis of the research hypothesis.The study found that:(1)The development of digital economy can significantly promote the outflow of inter-provincial trade in the province,and this conclusion is still established on the basis of a series of robustness tests..(2)From the perspective of the structural heterogeneity of the digital economy,the development of digital factor-driven and digital efficiencyenhancing industries has a more significant promotion effect on interprovincial trade.(3)From the perspective of destination marketization,the lower the level of the destination marketization,the more obvious the role of the digital economy to promote inter-provincial trade.(4)From the perspective of the similarity in economic scale between the two provinces,the less the similarity in economic scale between the two provinces.the greater the promotion effect of the development of the digital economy on their trade outflows.(5)From the perspective of the impact mechanism,the increase in inter-provincial trade outflows is mainly caused by the reduction in trade costs and knowledge spillovers brought about by the development of the digital economy in the province.Among them,the trade cost reduction effect accounts for a relatively large proportion.(6)The extended analysis found that foreign exports can effectively release the promotion effect of the digital economy on the province’s trade outflows,especially when the destination is the inland region;the extended analysis of the spatial spillover effect also found that the development of the digital economy has a negative spatial spillover effect on the trade outflows of neighboring provinces.
