| China’s manufacturing sector and digital economy have recently demonstrated an interacting relationship.The digital economy has improved and altered the manufacturing industry,and the expansion of the manufacturing sector’s infrastructure has helped the growth of the digital sector.The manufacturing sector in China is currently at the middle and bottom of the global value chain.Promoting the modernization and transformation of the manufacturing sector is crucial,as are quickening the pace of data economy and manufacturing production integration and enhancing the production’s competitiveness and capacity.The manufacturing industry is the fundamental industry of the national economy,and the digital economy can empower the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and has become a new engine to promote China’s economic development.Therefore,clarifying the coupling and coordinated development mechanism of the digital economy and manufacturing sector,as well as promoting the coupling and coordination of the high-quality development of China’s regional digital economy and manufacturing industry,has become an inevitable choice under the strategy of promoting high-quality development in the modern period.This article first scans the pertinent literature on the digital economy and the highquality development of the manufacturing sector to define,denote,and explain how the two are coupled and coordinated;The entropy approach is used to assess the system of highquality development indexes for the manufacturing and digital economies.This information is utilized to compute the coupling coordination schedule for the development of the industrial sector and the digital economy.Second,the dynamic properties of the distribution of coupling coordination degree are observed and analyzed using kernel density estimation;the spatial differences and sources of coupling coordination degree are studied using the Dagum Gini coefficient and its decomposition method;the spatial correlation is tested using the Moran’s I index;and the convergence test is performed using the spatial econometric model.Thirdly,the internal and external driving causes of coupling coordination,as well as the interaction of driving factors,are explored using the geo-detector model.Finally,a number of suggestions and countermeasures are offered in an effort to strengthen the connection and coordination between the digital economy and the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.The primary findings of this paper are based on the work mentioned above and are as follows:(1)The degree of cooperation between the high-quality development of China’s industrial sector and its digital economy is constantly increasing.The stages of coupling are oppositional,running-in,and coupling coordination,which ranges from close to imbalance to primary coordination.(2)Regional differences have been further widened,and there is a two-level differentiation phenomenon.The coupling and coordination degree of the digital economy and high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in China as a whole and in the four major regions has been continuously improved.The contribution rate between the eastern and western regions is the primary factor in the overall source of regional differences,and inter-regional differences are the primary cause of spatial variances in the coupling and coordination degree,which has a substantial absolute value.Convergence characteristics include convergence and circumstances.(3)From the perspective of endogenous driving factors,digital industrialization is the leading factor of the internal driving force of the Coupling co-scheduling,and the driving force of the interaction between digital infrastructure and digital industrialization is the largest;"From the perspective of exogenous drivers,the level of marketization and the level of industrial agglomeration are the main drivers of the spatial differentiation of the coupling coordination degree,while the interaction between the degree of marketization and industrial agglomeration is the largest.Based on the findings of the previous study,this paper proposes four measures and recommendations: the complementarity of digital economy infrastructure and manufacturing facilities,the integration and development of advanced manufacturing technology,the coordinated development of the manufacturing industry and the digital economy,and the security assurance of network information in the manufacturing industry.In order to enhance the coupling and coordination of China’s manufacturing sector’s high-quality development and to facilitate decision-making,the two sectors’ integrated development is being encouraged. |
