Study On The Weakening Function Of Farmers’ Agricultural Land Security In The Process Of Urbanization

Agricultural land is the main means of agricultural production and has the economic function of producing food and other agricultural products,as well as the indispensable material conditions for the survival and development of farmers,and has security functions such as employment,survival,retirement and emotion.As a large agricultural country with a population of 1.4 billion,China should pay attention to the economic and security functions of agricultural land for farmers,promote the stability of agricultural production activities and rural prosperity,and thus ensure national food security.However,along with urbanization and industrialization,not only the disadvantages of primary agricultural production methods are gradually highlighted,but also the low productivity of agriculture and the low price of agricultural products make it difficult to effectively improve the income of agricultural land.This has led to the emergence of a large number of migrant workers or part-time farmers,and the phenomenon of "farmers do not live by farming" in rural areas,resulting in the weakening of the security function of farmland for farmers,thus causing a large amount of arable land to be abandoned and seriously endangering national food security.Therefore,based on the perspective of food security,the thesis studies the weakening of farmers’ farmland security function in the process of urbanization,with the aim of ensuring national food security.Based on the literature on the function of agricultural land security and the theories of urban "pull" and rural "push",the thesis adopts a combination of historical analysis and realistic investigation to analyze,from a historical perspective,the characteristics of farmers’ agricultural land security function and its evolution at different historical stages.The second is to investigate the development and evolution of farmers’ farmland security function in village L of Henan Province through interviews,analyze the specific manifestations of the weakening of farmers’ farmland security function,analyze its causes,and then put forward relevant suggestions for improving farmers’ farmland security function.The study found that: firstly,under the influence of social division of labor,changes in land system and social security system,farmers’ agricultural land security function has been gradually strengthened in general at different historical stages,however,it has been weakened in recent years.Second,the field survey found that farmers’ farmland security function in L village of Henan Province also showed a trend of weakening,which was manifested in five aspects: the decline of farmers’ agricultural production activities,the relative weakening of farmers’ agricultural labor time,the decrease of farmers’ agricultural income,the decline of farmers’ overall willingness to cultivate,and the weakening of farmers’ security function identity.Third,the causal factors for the weakening of the security function of farmland come from a variety of sources.The low income of farmland and the yearly decrease of per capita arable land triggered the weakening of farmland security function,the pull of urbanization and rural push contributed to the weakening of farmland security function,and the existing land system and rural social security system arrangement weakened the function of farmland security.Based on the above findings,this paper proposes the following recommendations: to enhance the security function of agricultural land for farmers by increasing their agricultural income,promoting the development of large-scale mechanization of rural agriculture,effectively implementing rural land transfer and establishing sound social security for farmers,and thus guaranteeing national food security.
