| It is clearly pointed out in the report of the 20 th Party Congress that high-quality development is the primary task of comprehensively building a modern socialist country, and we should adhere to the theme of promoting high-quality development and accelerate the construction of a modern economic system.High-tech industry is the source of highquality economic development, the development process in the southeast coast of the agglomeration trend is becoming more and more obvious,high-tech industry agglomeration to enhance the quality of regional and national economic growth has played a vital role.At the same time,in recent years,China’s transportation construction business has also made great achievements by leaps and bounds, and transportation infrastructure construction has once again gained wide attention as a key policy issue. In the context of the advent of innovation economy, transportation infrastructure affects industrial agglomeration by influencing the flow of factors and intermediate products.Based on this, this paper will use the data from 2006 to 2020 to analyze and study the impact of transportation infrastructure on high-tech industrial agglomeration, which is of great significance to clarify the goals and construction priorities of future transportation development and promote the coordinated development of transportation and industrial economy.Based on the above background, this paper firstly elaborates the theories related to transportation infrastructure and high-tech industry agglomeration, and analyzes the mechanism of the influence of transportation infrastructure on high-tech industry agglomeration. Then, the provincial panel data from 2006 to 2020 are collected and collated, and the current situation of China’s transportation infrastructure construction is analyzed in terms of transportation infrastructure stock, transportation capacity and spatial distribution of transportation infrastructure, and the regional distribution characteristics of China’s hightech industry agglomeration are analyzed by measuring the level of high-tech industry agglomeration with location entropy. At the same time, the traffic network density and location entropy indicators are used as proxy variables for traffic infrastructure and hightech industry agglomeration level,respectively.First,high-tech industrial agglomeration in China is not randomly distributed, but has a significant positive spatial correlation, and has gradually shifted from low-low agglomeration to high-high agglomeration since 2006.The concentration level of high-tech industries in the eastern region is significantly higher than that in the central, western and northeastern regions, while the density of traffic network also shows an unbalanced distribution of high density in the east and low density in the central, western and northeastern regions, and the traffic infrastructure and high-tech industries are consistent in spatial distribution.Secondly, the improvement of China’s transportation infrastructure positively influences the agglomeration of high-tech industries and has a significant promotion effect. From the perspective of effect decomposition, the direct effect of transportation infrastructure has a positive value of 0.172,which passes the 1%significance test, indicating that the improvement of transportation infrastructure in the region can positively promote the high technology agglomeration in the region. The indirect effect of transportation infrastructure is significantly negative at the 1% level, indicating that the improvement of transportation infrastructure in neighboring regions will reduce the degree of agglomeration of high-tech industries in the region and accelerate the diffusion of high-tech industries in the region. In terms of the total effect, the improvement of transportation infrastructure construction level has a negative spatial spillover effect on the agglomeration of high-tech industries in general. The results of the sample test by region show that the improvement of local transportation infrastructure positively promotes the agglomeration of high-tech industries in the three regions of east, west and central China, but in terms of the spatial spillover effect of transportation infrastructure, the improvement of transportation infrastructure in the neighboring regions of east and central China promotes the agglomeration of high-tech industries in the region, and the transportation infrastructure in the western region has a negative spillover effect on the agglomeration of industries. |
