| Urban agglomerations are the primary drivers of urbanization, but a healthy growth of urbanization within urban agglomerations is hampered by the uneven population distribution between cities within urban agglomerations. The key way to stop the excessive growth of core cities and the relative fall of edge cities is to fully utilize the benefits of edge cities in urban agglomerations in absorbing agricultural transfer people and strengthening the agglomeration function of edge cities. In order to guide the agricultural transfer population to settle in edge cities, the nation uses the equalization of public resource allocation and lowering of the threshold for settling in edge cities, but the agricultural transfer population’s willingness to become citizens is lower than the government’s expectations. In order to address the issue of the agricultural transfer population’ weak hukou convert willingness in edge cities, this article starts with the factors that influence hukou convert willingness, builds a model of those factors, and proposes strategies to increase the hukou convert willingness of the agricultural transfer population in edge cities based on the analysis result s of empirical research.Firstly, based on the typical sampling method, this article conducts in-depth interviews with the agricultural transfer population in edge cities to understand their true thoughts on hukou.Based on the interview data obtained, the research method of Grounded theory is used to explore the underlying reasons behind the phenomenon, and identify and refine the key influencing factors of the hukou convert willingness of the agricultural transfer population in edge cities. On this basis, analyze the logical relationship between various influencing factors and the hukou convert willingness, and construct a factor model for the hukou convert willingness of agricultural transfer population in edge cities from four levels: personal developmen t level, rural development level, core city development level, and edge city development level. Then, according to the key influencing factors and theoretical model obtained from Grounded theory, the measurement index selection and questionnaire design are carried out.The data collected from the survey questionnaire was analyzed using a SEM to test the effectiveness of the influencing factor model of hukou convert willingness and the direction and intensity of each influencing factor on hukou convert willingness. On this basis, propose strategies to improve the hukou convert willingness of agricultural transfer population in edge cities.Research has found that at the personal development level, the lower the individual’s ability, the lower the willingness of agricultural transfer population to become citizens; At the rural development level, the stronger local attachment and the more satisfied with rural policies, the lower the willingness of agricultural transfer population to become citizens; At the core city development level, the better the welfare of core cities, the weaker the willingness of agricultural transfer population in edge cities to become citizens; At the edge city development level, the greater the pressure on edge cities and the more complicated the approval of settlement, the lower the willingness of agricultural transfer population to become citizens, and the impact of access to public services on the willingness to become citizen s is not significant. From the results, the more access to public services that agricultural transfer population can use,the lower their demand for urban-hukou in edge cities. On this basis, this article conducted heterogeneity analysis and found that different influencing factors have different patterns in the effect of different genders of agricultural transfer population’s willingness to become citizens. This study expands the research perspective of exploring the hukou convert willingness of agricultural transfer population from the perspective of urban agglomerations, and improves and develops the theoretical system of new urbanization; It also provides scientific reference and technical support for the formulation of urbanization policies in edge cities. |
