In recent years,the increasing incidence of cancer among Chinese residents has gradually attracted the attention of Chinese residents.In 2018,Ping An Life Insurance first launched the first commercial special drug insurance product-Ping An i Drug Insurance.In the same year,"I’m not the God of Medicine",a film adapted from a real case,came on the screen,making topics such as cancer and specific drugs quickly ignited,and the specific drugs for cancer to set up special drug protection again aroused hot debate.Since 2019,the demand for cancer risk in China’s health insurance market has been captured by insurance companies.With the heat caused by special drugs and the pain points of residents’ health problems,various life insurance companies have launched exclusive commercial special drug insurance,setting off a boom in commercial special drug insurance.With the malignant tumor with the highest incidence rate in the traditional serious disease insurance as the selling point,the products featuring refined premium and targeted security are favored by life insurance companies,and also meet the needs of China’s health market.However,from the market feedback in 2020 and 2021,the highly expected special drug insurance products by life insurance companies did not achieve the expected results.Both the premium scale and the compensation level remained at the level of an ordinary new product.Life insurance companies still need to explore the development path of special drug insurance.Therefore,this paper attempts to select classic cases for analysis,find the commonalities and individuality hidden behind things,study the causes and effects of promoting special drug insurance,and explore the reasons behind the collapse of the special drug insurance boom since 2019.This paper selects the case of Hainan Free Trade Port promoting Hainan Boao Lecheng Global Specialty Drug Insurance,and considers the issue from two perspectives: life insurance companies and health insurance market.First of all,this paper theoretically analyzes the implementation of special drug insurance from three perspectives: the operation mode,the motivation of implementation,and the impact of the launch of special drug insurance;Secondly,a comprehensive introduction of the case is made from the introduction of the pilot area of Lecheng in Hainan Free Trade Port,the launching process of Lecheng Special Drug Insurance,and the introduction of Lecheng Special Drug Insurance to the whole country;Thirdly,according to the market demand and supply side situation,analyze the reasons for Lecheng special drug insurance to go online.This paper analyzes the impact of Lecheng Special Drug Insurance from the perspective of the operation of insurance companies and other products in the health insurance market.This paper analyzes the phenomenon that Lecheng Special Drug Insurance finally went out of Hainan and faced the whole country from the perspectives of Lecheng Special Drug Insurance’s own competitiveness and the popularity of the people’s insurance;Finally,through the analysis of the case of the launch of Lecheng Special Drug Insurance by Hainan Free Trade Port,explore the reasons behind the collapse of the commercial special drug insurance boom since 2019,and put forward countermeasures and suggestions for life insurance companies and local governments.At present,domestic scholars’ research on health insurance in the field of major diseases is mainly limited to traditional serious disease insurance,and special drug insurance mostly appears in the form of special drug liability.This paper will focus on the upsurge of independent special drug insurance in line with market demand and policy orientation,and take the launch of Lecheng Special Drug Insurance by Hainan Free Trade Port as an example to investigate its impact on life insurance enterprises and health insurance market,explore the reasons why other commercial special drug insurance has not achieved the expected results after its implementation The local government and the health insurance market have certain theoretical and practical significance.
