With the continuous development of global value chains,international division of labor has become an important support for the development of the world economy.Trade integration and production non integration have also become prominent features of globalization.Through the international division of labor in global value chains,developed countries can utilize their resources more effectively,while developing and underdeveloped countries can gain development opportunities and share the fruits of the global economy.With the development of globalization,developed value chain leading companies have become the leaders of global value chains,controlling the most high-end R&D,design,brand marketing,and other links.However,economic participants in developing countries are locked in low value-added production and manufacturing links,even facing a "tragic development" situation.With the rapid development of international OEM,China has rapidly risen to become the world’s largest manufacturing country,and "Made in China" has therefore become the focus of global attention.However,it is undeniable that Chinese OEM enterprises are gradually locked in lower technological content and low value-added links in the global value chain,such as processing,assembly,and manufacturing.Faced with the adverse situation of international trade,current literature research on the key factors that affect OEM enterprises at the low end of the global value chain in the process of upgrading the value chain,and how to achieve value chain upgrading through their own advantages,is not in-depth enough.Therefore,this article believes that it is necessary to study the key factors and their mechanisms required for the upgrading of the value chain of OEM enterprises,to help enterprises better break through the low-end locking dilemma,promote OEM enterprises to extend to the high-end of the global value chain,and achieve the upgrading of the global value chain.Through a comprehensive application of the framework of "posing problems analyzing problems solving problems",this article attempts to deeply explore the international division of labor in global value chains,thereby gaining a better insight into the upgrading mechanism of the value chain of OEM enterprises,and applying these findings to practice.Focusing on the research topic of "upgrading the value chain of OEM enterprises",this article mainly includes the following five aspects:(1)Systematically reviewing the literature related to this study.Through a systematic and comprehensive review of the relevant research results of global value chain theory and value chain upgrading theory of OEM enterprises,it lays an important theoretical foundation for this study.(2)Based on the grounded theoretical research method,this thesis identifies the key influencing factors of the value chain upgrading of OEM enterprises under the global value chain,and identifies the key influencing factors of the value chain upgrading of OEM enterprises,including entrepreneurial ability,technical ability,market ability,resource acquisition ability,and global value chain division status.Then,a conceptual model of the key influencing factors of the value chain upgrading of OEM enterprises is constructed.(3)Based on a comprehensive analysis of existing relevant theories and research results,this thesis proposes a research hypothesis on the interaction of key influencing factors,and constructs a research model for the value chain upgrading mechanism of OEM enterprises under the global value chain,with technical and market capabilities as independent variables,the division of labor status in the global value chain as intermediary variables,and entrepreneurial capabilities and resource acquisition capabilities as regulatory variables,Enterprise value chain upgrading is a dependent variable in order to better understand the mechanism of value chain upgrading in OEM enterprises.(4)To empirically test the research hypothesis of the value chain upgrading mechanism of OEM enterprises under the global value chain.After the issuance and collection of questionnaires,406 valid enterprise sample data were obtained,and these data were used to verify the research assumptions of this article.The results showed that the research assumptions of this article were supported.(5)Relevant management implications are proposed.Based on the previous research,this article proposes the following recommendations to promote the upgrading of the value chain of OEM enterprises: First,improve the technological capabilities of enterprises;Second,cultivate the market capacity of enterprises;Third,promote the promotion of the division of labor position in the global value chain of enterprises;Fourth,entrepreneurs should attach importance to the improvement of their own abilities;Fifth,improve the resource acquisition ability of enterprises.In summary,this article uses Chinese OEM enterprises as a research sample to explore the mechanism of enterprise value chain upgrading from a micro perspective,expanding the breadth and depth of existing research,and enriching the content of research related to enterprise value chain upgrading.However,there are still some limitations in this article,such as shortcomings in the collection method and research content of sample data,which require further research to continue to improve and improve.
