Research On The Impact Of Entrepreneurship Alertness On Entrepreneurship Performance

Premier Li Keqiang proposed the "Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" strategy at the Summer Davos Forum in 2014,which has stimulated entrepreneurial enthusiasm and led to the birth of many micro and small enterprises in a short period of time with state support,accounting for more than 90% of all market players.However,the survival rate of micro and small enterprises is very low in the Dynamic Environment,with less than 5% of the start-ups surviving within 8 years of their establishment.Therefore,the rational use of a Prior Knowledge,sensitive identification of Entrepreneurial Opportunities and access to the resources needed to improve Entrepreneurial Performance in a Dynamic Environment are the key to the survival and development of enterprises.In a dynamically changing market environment,a high degree of alertness to potential Entrepreneurial Opportunities and available resources in companies’ inside is a prerequisite for enterprises to achieve soaring performance.Therefore,it is important to explore the effect mechanism of Entrepreneurial Alertness on Entrepreneurial Performance at the theoretical level to reveal what role Entrepreneurial Alertness plays in the entrepreneurial process.However,the start-ups who face the resource challenges have difficulties in obtaining resources from outside,so piecing together existing resources and breaking up original resource combination can create a new dynamism for companies.Specifically,Entrepreneurial Alertness will help entrepreneurs discover the ambiguous connections among these resources,enhance the effect of bricolage,and thus improve Entrepreneurial Performance.However,existing research is still incomplete,and few researchers have explored the effect mechanism of Entrepreneurial Alertness on Entrepreneurial Performance using the Resource-Based Theory.Based on this,there is a certain research significance to explore the specific paths through which Entrepreneurial Alertness affects Entrepreneurial Performance.In summary,the purpose of this study is to investigate the "black-box mechanism" through which Entrepreneurial Alertness affects Entrepreneurial Performance.Therefore,based on the Resource-Based Theory and the Contingency theory,this study introduces the bricolage into the field of entrepreneurship,while adding the moderating variables which are Prior Knowledge and Environmental Dynamism to construct a theoretical model of Entrepreneurial Alertness to Entrepreneurial Performance,and attempts to reveal the specific paths and boundary conditions through which Entrepreneurial Alertness affects Entrepreneurial Performance with theoretical literature.Subsequently,this study will use data analysis software SPSS and Mplus to analyze the collected data of 340 start-ups and test the research hypotheses proposed in this study,and the final findings are shown as follows.First,Entrepreneurial Alertness has a positive effect on Entrepreneurial Performance,and Entrepreneurs with a high level of Entrepreneurial Alertness are more likely to develop a high level of Entrepreneurial Performance.Second,the part of Entrepreneurial Bricolage mediates the relationship between Entrepreneurial Alertness and Entrepreneurial Performance.Entrepreneurs with a high level of Entrepreneurial Alertness are able to collect,connect,and evaluate new information more quickly and accurately,which facilitates entrepreneurs to perceive connections among existing resources,thus influencing the effectiveness of Entrepreneurial Bricolage and improving Entrepreneurial Performance.Third,Prior Knowledge and Dynamic Environment negatively moderate the positive relationships between Entrepreneurial Alertness and Entrepreneurial Bricolage,as well as Entrepreneurial Bricolage and Entrepreneurial Performance,respectively.The innovations and main contributions of this study include: first,this research extends the study of Entrepreneurial Alertness to the field of resource allocation,enriches the study of Entrepreneurial Alertness,and reveals the positive effects of Entrepreneurial Alertness on Entrepreneurial Bricolage and Entrepreneurial Performance.Second,it explores the partial mediating role of Entrepreneurial Bricolage between Entrepreneurial Alertness and Entrepreneurial Performance,and enriches the research on Entrepreneurial Bricolage.Third,this study examines the organizational scenarios in which Entrepreneurial Alertness affects Entrepreneurial Performance,which enriches the study of scenarios in entrepreneurship,helps deepen entrepreneurs’ understanding of the relationship between situational factors and Entrepreneurial Performance,and points the way to the theoretical study of Entrepreneurial Alertness.Fourth,this study enriches the research on Prior Knowledge literature.Existing studies mainly use Prior Knowledge as the antecedent variable of Entrepreneurial Alertness and Entrepreneurial Performance.This study uses Prior Knowledge as a moderating variable and introduces the mediating variable which is Entrepreneurial Bricolage,revealing a study of the mechanism of how Prior Knowledge affects Entrepreneurial Performance.
