The Impact Of Regulatory Focus And Prior Knowledge On Entrepreneurial Opportunity Recognition Machanism

Under the cirumstances of economic transcation and industrial upgrading in nowadays China, Entrepreneurship business has became increasely important as entrepreneurial opportunities generated through all the time. However, entrepreneurs in China are still faced with difficulities in creativity and successfulness of new venture operation. And when compared with necessity entrepreneur, opportunity-pull entrepreneurs tend to be more creative and more successful. Therefore, it is necessary for us to clarify why do some people would more likely to recognize opportunities while others not, and the machanism of recognizing opportunities. Based on current situation, this study mainly discusses the influence that prior knowledge and regulatory focus on entrepreneurial opportunity recognize machanism.This study first goes throught all the past studies on all related topics and then establishes the study model of the impact of prior knowledge and regulatory focus on entrepreneurial opprtunity identification. Based on mature questionnaires abroad, which distributed through both online and offline channels, we’ve done a questionnaire study on highly educated graduates in universitie and people with working experience, especially those with entrepreneur intentions. We have collected 290 samples, and 228 of them are proven to be effective. We have finally collected the following conclusions based on our empirical analysis:1. Promotional regulatory focus and prior knowledge are positively related to entrepreneurial opportunity recognition.2. Entrepreneurial alertness mediates the impact of promotional regulatory focus on opportunity indentification And entrepreneurial alertness also mediates the impact of perticular interest and opportunity recognition. However, similar conclusion does not find in entreperneurial alterness’s mediate role on the impact of industrial knowledge and opportunity recognition.3. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy partially moderates the relationship of promotional regulatory focus and entreperneurial alertness.This study is an exploratory study of entrepreneurial opportunity recognition machnism based on regulatory focus, prior knowledge, alertness interaction among them. The results of the study have practial meaning to both potential enterpreneurs and fresh enterpreneurs to indentify opportunities in the dynamic market.
