Innovation is the key to achieving high-quality economic development in China,and it is also the foundation for the survival and development of enterprises.With the increasingly fierce market competition,the upgrading of enterprise products and services must meet the multilateral and dynamic needs of customer-centric,which makes the enterprise innovation behavior and results embedded in the complex customer network.Most of the existing research regarded the enterprise-customer relationship as a simple binary linear relationship,and there was a lack of research on building a customer network based on the customer and supplier information disclosed by listed companies,and empirically analyzing the relationship between customer network embedding and corporate innovation performance.In addition,the breadth of knowledge base determines the degree of diversification of enterprise knowledge,which will have a certain impact on the process between enterprise customer network embedding and enterprise innovation performance.In this paper,customer relationship was regarded as a multi-level network of direct or indirect connections.By combing relevant research literature,a conceptual model of the relationship between customer network embedding,knowledge base breadth and enterprise innovation performance was constructed,and put forward the research hypothesis of the relationship between the variables.Selected China’s A-share listed manufacturing companies from 2010 to 2020 as research samples,using social network analysis method to convert customer network embedding characteristics into comparable indicators,and using negative binomial regression model to empirically test customer network embedding,knowledge base breadth relationship with firm innovation performance.The following conclusions are drawn:the deeper the customer network relationship is embedded,the more conducive to improving the innovation performance of the enterprise;the customer network structure embedding:a high level of customer network centrality and occupying rich structural holes can significantly improve the enterprise innovation performance;customer network relationship embedding plays a mediating role between customer network structure embedding and firm innovation performance;knowledge base width weakens customer network centrality,and there is a positive relationship between customer network structure embedding and firm innovation performance.This research enriches the domestic empirical analysis on such issues to a certain extent,and provides theoretical reference for enterprises to improve their innovation performance from the perspective of customer relationship management and knowledge base management,and for the government to formulate relevant policies.
