Under the background of economic globalization and informationization,the continuous emergence of new technologies,new industries,new business formats and new models has put the world in a new era marked by VUCA,in which volatility,uncertainty,complexity,ambiguity and other factors are filled with the business environment faced by enterprises.It is difficult for start-ups to survive in a rapidly changing market environment due to the disadvantage of new entrants.The global outbreak of COVID-19 has undoubtedly brought more severe challenges to the thorn-covered road of entrepreneurship.In the face of the increasingly turbulent entrepreneurial environment,some start-ups have failed to recover,while a few have grown against the trend.What causes different entrepreneurial results? The study found that "resilience",as an ideal organizational characteristic to deal with various difficulties,can not only help start-ups to cope with the impact of environmental uncertainty,turn crisis into opportunity and rise,but also improve the ability to cope with similar challenges in the future.Therefore,in the era of VUCA,how to cultivate the organizational resilience of start-ups has become a key issue of great concern to the academic and business circles.However,the current organization resilience of related research is mostly based on mature enterprises or large enterprise.There are few researches on organizational resilience of start-ups,and most of them use qualitative analysis methods based on case analysis.There are relatively few quantitative researches based on data analysis.Start-ups in practice how to cultivate organization resilience mechanism is unclear.Therefore,based on the perspective of capabilities and resources,this study selected entrepreneurial strategy,iterative innovation,and network capability as the important factors affecting the formation of organizational resilience of start-ups.Firstly,the relevant researches on these four variables were sorted out,and according to previous researches,entrepreneurial strategy was divided into exploratory and exploitative strategy.Secondly,the relationship model of “entrepreneurial strategy-organizational resilience” was constructed to explain the mediating and moderating effects of iterative innovation and network capability.And use the hierarchical regression analysis method to verify the theoretical model,examine the linear relationship between each variable and the outcome variable.The regression analysis showed that: both exploratory and exploitative strategy have positive influence on the formation of organizational resilience;iterative innovation plays a positive role in the formation of organizational resilience through exploratory strategy and exploitative strategy;network capability is only used in exploratory strategy,there is a positive moderating effect between strategy and iterative innovation,while the moderating effect between exploitative strategy and iterative innovation is not significant.Again,considering the complexity of entrepreneurial activity,hierarchical regression analysis method can only be validated for specific causal relationship between variables,ignoring the linkage effect between multiple factors,resulting in the limitations of the research conclusions,and a single research method cannot prove the conclusion can be eligibility and popularization,to enrich research conclusion,improve the reliability and robustness of the research conclusion.This study further uses the fuzzy sets of qualitative comparative analysis(fs QCA)method to systematically sort out the relationship between various variables and organizational resilience from the configuration perspective,and three antecedent condition configurations that affect the formation of organizational resilience are obtained.The two cultivation modes are summarized as resource-driven cultivation mode with exploitative strategy and network capability,and iterative upgrading cultivation mode with iterative innovation as the core.Finally,by comparing the results of the two methods,it is concluded that: both exploratory and exploitative strategies have positive effects on organizational resilience;iterative innovation plays an important role in the formation of organizational resilience;although network capability only moderates the relationship between exploratory strategy and iterative innovation,network capability,as an important factor in the adoption of exploitative strategy,promotes the formation of organizational resilience regardless of the existence of iterative innovation.Based on the above conclusions,the research provides management enlightenment and provides diversified path guidance for start-ups to cultivate organizational resilience.
