The Impact Of China-asean Production Capacity Cooperation On The Ecnomic Arowth Of Asean Countries

ASEAN is an important economy in Asia,and China and ASEAN share a close and friendly dialogue and cooperation for a long time,and have maintained a deep friendship.China and ASEAN have entered into an era of comprehensive strategic partnership,and with the introduction of the "One Belt,One Road" initiative,the completion of the China-ASEAN FTA upgrade negotiations and the successful signing of the RCEP agreement,China-ASEAN capacity cooperation will become even more active,with more interconnection in terms of economy,policies and facilities,which is conducive to transforming China’s high-quality production capacity,transferring capital,technology and management experience,and making up for the backward industrial base of ASEAN countries,so as to achieve deeper integration and development of both economies in a win-win situation.The so-called "pollution export theory" and "backward production capacity transfer theory" that have emerged in the international arena are obviously inconsistent with the original intention and fact of China’s capacity cooperation with ASEAN and have,to a certain extent,adversely affected China’s international capacity cooperation.This paper makes reference to previous research methods,constructs an international capacity cooperation index and measures the current status of capacity cooperation between China and ten ASEAN countries,identifies high,medium and low capacity cooperation groups,uses the China-ASEAN capacity cooperation index as the core explanatory variable and introduces other necessary control variables,and conducts an empirical analysis of its effect on the economic growth of ASEAN countries using a fixed effects model.The results show that China-ASEAN capacity cooperation has a significant positive impact on the economic growth of ASEAN countries,and the findings remain robust to the use of investment amount to change the core explanatory variables,split-sample tests,and endogeneity tests.The study further finds that the impact of capacity cooperation on economic growth is greater in the high and medium capacity cooperation groups than in the low capacity cooperation group,and the results of the mediating effects analysis indicate that China-ASEAN capacity cooperation can affect the economic growth of ASEAN countries through the infrastructure quality improvement effect and the industrial upgrading effect.Based on the above research,this paper proposes to continue to carry out extensive capacity cooperation,explore beneficial models and carry out multi-level differentiated capacity cooperation according to the industrial structure characteristics of different countries.In the capacity cooperation with ASEAN countries,China should strengthen capacity cooperation in the field of infrastructure,seize the opportunity of policy dividends and further promote smooth economic and trade cooperation;promote the transfer of high-tech industries and enrich high-tech type capacity cooperation in order to bring into play the infrastructure quality enhancement effect and industrial upgrading effect.
