Co-parenting behavior is a process of cooperation by two-parents, which developed with the evolving of traditional parenting role. Previous research on child development and parenting were paid more attention to the relationship between parenting and the development of children's personality, but a lot of problems have still remained unresolved. The further study is not only important for father participation in parenting practice and rich the theories on child's mental development and education, but also for training the high level talented person in 21 centuries.In order to explore co-parenting actuality and relations between co-parenting behavior and child development, the situation and characteristic of two-parents'co-parenting behavior were investigated in Dalian and Ben Xi cities by the questionnaires-oriented method based on extensive literature and updated findings from both home and abroad, and the structure of school-age children's co-parenting behavior and instrument were established. Three studies conducted as follows:Study 1, the mental structural dimension of co-parenting was explored and parenting-reported co-parenting questionnaire was designed, based on collecting theoretical and empirical literatures,investigating parents of school-age children using open-ended questionnaire and interviewing coded. Then, by explorative factor analysis and confirmative factor analysis, pupils'co-parenting behavior structure of couple's rating were established.Study 2, Questionnaire method adopted with a sample of 775 couples of school-age children, exploring the co-parenting family types of which were acquired distinguishingly by using Cluster Analysis. At the same time, through situational observations, coding analyses and evaluating for 28 nuclear families'parents, co-parenting behavior's actuality, characteristics were shown. And the three model turns to be valid.Study 3, a teacher-rating questionnaire on pupils'personality was adopted with a sample of 775 pupils'nuclear families, exploring pupils'personality developmental level from different co-parenting family types. Then, we examined co-parenting behavior how to influence on pupils'personality by step-wised regression analysis.The conclusions were arrived at as follow:1. Superior reliability and validity in self-designed, parental reported co-parenting questionnaire, a reliable test instrument measuring and analyzing the co-parenting behavior.2. Three factors covered in co-parenting structure: Harmonious-support, active-involvement and opposite-conflict. Three factors related model turn to be reasonable and valid.3. Cluster analysis of fathers'and mothers'scores on the three co-parenting factors suggested five"types"co-parenting families: Mother high participant, Father high participant, opposite, cooperative and low participant co-parenting family.4. Mothers'co-parenting behavior was significantly more than that of fathers'. To some extent, co-parenting developmental trend was good. It showed that two-parents had a lot of support and involvement and there was a little conflict. Mothers were higher supportive than fathers, fathers had higher conflict than mothers. 5. Mothers'co-parenting behavior was significantly in children's gender difference. The boys'couple had more harmonious in action than girls'. On the contrast, girl couples had more emotional support than boys'. Boy couples'involvement was more active than girls'. Boys'parents expressed much discontentment than girls'parents and girls'parents had more child-parental triangulation alliance. Boys parents'conflict were higher than girls'.6. The different co-parenting family types had pupils'personality developmental level be remarkable. Cooperative families'children had the best personality developmental level, then Father high participant families'and Mother high participant families'children personality developmental were at middle level. Opposite and low participant co-parenting families'type had some negative effects on children personality.7. Co-parenting behavior had a force to predict pupils'personality development. Couple's harmonious-support could predict to pupils'Intellect, Emotional Stability, and Prosocial Behavior. Couple's opposite-conflict could predict to pupils'Conscientiousness/self-control and Prosocial Behavior and couple's active-involvement could also predict pupils'all of personality's factors.
