In industrial production, vent ducts are often used outside of the vents to guide explosion to a safety place to avoid secondary explosions. The existed research works are mainly based on the cases of freely venting outside of the vents, and little research has been done on the cases of venting with a vent duct. Therefore, to investigate the influence of vent duct on the pressure in vented vessel and the factors that affect the pressure in vent duct is quite meaningful on deciding the strength of the vent vessel and the vent duct.In this paper, with a cylindrical vented vessel connected to a duct, the experiments on the venting under different venting conditions are performed, and obterned the process of pressure change at different positions both in the vessel and the vent duct. The main work and conclusions are as follows:(1) Some improvement on Hartmann dust explosion equipment has been made and a dust explosion venting equipment with vent duct is designed;(2) The characteristic of pressure change about aluminum explosion venting without vent duct are studied experimentally in the explosion vessel, and the main content include: the influence of action pressure of vent membrane, dust particle size and duct concentration on reduced pressure and rate of pressure rise and the corresponding conclusion, and the variation regularities beteen these parameters are acquired;(3) The characteristic of pressure change about aluminum dust explosion venting with vent duct are studied experimentally, and the main content include: the influence of action pressure of vent membrane, dust particle size, duct concentration and diameter of vent duct on reduced pressure, maximum rate of pressure rise and maximum venting pressure in vent duct. The above results are compared to the results without vent duct and some significant conclusions are drawn, the acquired conclusions provide experimental basis data for setting up vent duct;(4) The comparative experiments about the influence of dust concentration on explosion vent of aluminum and magnesium with and without vent duct are made. The results show that rate of pressure raises of magnesium is higher than that of aluminum;(5) The characteristic of explosion venting about the dust of magnesium-aluminum alloy and magnesium-aluminum mixture are studied respectively, the content includes: the influence of concentration of alloy dust on reduced pressure, maximum rate of pressure rise...
