Taking 1100HC rolling mill model as research object, this paper researched the design system of rolling mill. In the modern design process of rolling mill, a 3D model is universally worked out on basis of computer aided design technique, and then confirms the rationality of the model. Parameterization design and the combination of finite element method and computer technology, make the design work to be simple, fast and efficient. This paper builds the design system of rolling mill using the CAD parameterize method, and combines it to CAE. This system could be take as a application software which is an integration of design, optimization, analysis and check.Taking Pro/Engineer and VC++6.0 as the development environment, this paper develops the design system of rolling mill. It consists of four main parts: the parametric part, the schedule drawing part,the finite element part and the standard part library. The parametric part model the parts of rolling mill using Pro/Engineer, and confirms the main design parameter and the relations of parameters, and program controls parameter using VC++. The schedule drawing part sets and creates 2-dimensional engineering drawings through VC++ procedure. The finite element part optimizes the parts and assemble model of rolling mill. The standard part library can give the seal ring.In this system a friendly independent operator interfaces is established using VC++, and dialogs are created using the visible dialog design technique of MFC. With the initial parameters which are inputted by the user, the requisite 3D model will be obtained. In the design procedure of the system, the model templet of Pro/Engineer should be called for parameterize, so Pro/TOOLKIT asynchronous model is used to the development in this paper.On the basis of theoretical research, the digital system of mill is developed. It could accomplish the 3-D design of mill, then generate the model and turn it to FEM model. This paper gives the design process of the system,also gives an example of the application of this system.
