Study On Sustainability Of Public Hospital By Means Of Balanced Scorecard

ObjectiveSystematic harmony of inside and outside environments, resource allocation, operation status and management process has been analyzed to make sure the relationship between each factors and identify the key factors that inhibit sustainable development of public hospital. Sustainability theory was employed to set up a prelimunary theoretical framework for sustainability of public hospital and Balanced Scorecard used as reference to explore the methods for evaluating sustainability of public hospital.Methods1. The current condition of public hospital was discussed by analyzing the relation between hospital efficiency and doctor's work load and comparing changes of medical resources with outcomes of the Third National Health Services Investigation in the same time.2.The related literatures about sustainability of health institution and hospital was reviewed so as to make clear the concept of sustainability of public hospital, with tenet of realizing social function of public hospital as core.3.Two rounds of consultation were carried out in 28 hospital managers showed primarily the key factors for sustainability of public hospital.
