The Effects Of Lentinan Combined With Chemotherapy On Immune Function Of Patients With Cancers

BACKGROUND: The occurrence,development and treatment of cancer are related with immune depression and immune defect. So biotherapy has become the fourth therapy mode of cancer. In this study,T cell subset, immunoglobulin,IL-2 and IL-6 were detected to explore the value of immune enhancer combined with chemotherapy on patients with maligant tumor.METHODS: 30 patients were selected in the tumor research center of Shandong provincial hospital from January 2007 to March 2007.All patients were divided to two groups,one group received chemotherapy combined with immune inhancer while one group received chemotherapy only. T cell subset, immunoglobulin,IL-2 and IL-6 of all patients were detected before and after the chemotherapy.RESULTS :1.The elevation of KPS in experimental group is higher than control group,which has statistical significance. The change of body weight between two groups has no statistical significance.2. Immunoglobulin and IL-6 in experimental group decreased after therapy(P<0.05),while IL-2 increased in experimental group decreased after therapy(P<0.05). T cell subset has no significant change(P>0.05) .3. Immunoglobulin , T cell subset and IL-2 in control group decreased after therapy(P<0.05),while IL-6 increased in experimental group decreased after therapy(P<0.05).4. T cell subset, immunoglobulin,IL-2 and IL-6 between two groups before chemotherapy have no significant difference(P>0.05).5.After therapy, T cell subset, immunoglobulin,IL-2 are higher while IL-6 is lower in experimental group than in control group(P<0.05),6.IL-2 is positive correlative while IL-6 is negative correlative to T cell subset.Both IL-2 and IL-6 have no significant correlation with immunoglobulin and NK cell activity.CONCLUSIONS:Chmotherapy alone can decrease the immune function especially cell immune function of body.Lentinan combined with chemotherapy can improve the immune function and quality of life.IL-2 and IL-6 may be superior to T cell subset and immunoglobulin to evaluate the immune function.
