Study On Relationship Between Self-Reportded Physical Health And Mental Health Among Residents In Weihai China

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." All the research mentioned that health should be measured at biological, mental and social levels. Self-reported physical health is a self feeling for his health, which means it is a subjective evaluation of his health. When the investigation involves a large number of people, it is impossible to have objective health evaluation target, so self-reported physical health is used as an alternative for Clinical evaluation. In fact, self-reported physical health can better reflect people's subjective feeling. As a result, self-reported physical health draws more and more attention of the medical and psychological experts. With the development of society, people pay more and more attention to their psychological health.Using the questionnaire of health condition scale and psychological scale, the research have a thorough investigation on the self-reported physical health and psychological health of the habitants in Weihai city, including the subject's family background information, the subject's family members' social demography features, the subject's self-reported physical health and psychological health. The data of field investigation needed comes from the Institute for Social Medicine and Health Services management of Shandong University, the bureau of Public Health of Weihai Municipality. It also includes the data from Weihai Municipal Statistical Yearbook and Weihai Healthcare Statistical Yearbook. In order to ensure the quality of the investigation, the researchers take strict quality control measures on each link of the investigation. In addition, the quality and representativeness of the data can be measured by the logical relations of the data, it can also be compared with the data from the census of Weihai Municipality, so it can give an objective evaluation on the quality of the data, including the consistency test on the age composition of the sample and the composition of the whole people in Weihai Municipality. For example, the MYER'S Index based on this investigation is 9.1951, which shows the quality of the data is high. The result of the Test of Goodness for fit shows that Chisqu.value is 0.1789, p-value is larger than 0.05, which shows there is non—significant between the age composition of the sample and the composition of the whole people in Weihai Municipality. The data have a good representitiveness.The result of this research shows that there is a significant difference between the people's self-reported physical health and psychological health in different age groups. The Chisquare value of self-reported physical health of different age groups is 3,848.554, p-value is less than 0.01.The self-reported physical health and the psychological health of the people in Weihai become worse with the increase of age, showing a significant difference. The research shows that the male's health is better than female's in general, and that there is difference between the urban and rural inhabitants. We conduct a multi-factor analysis on people's self-reported physical health and psychological health to form a Regression Equation in order to analyze its influencing factors. The research finds that under the condition of good self-reported physical health, people's self-reported physical health and psychological health have a good consistency, reaching 84.6%. So we can find the factors influencing the consistency, and analyze the causes, then we can determine people's health level, evaluate the main factors that influence people's health in Weihai Municipality, and find out an effective solution to improve people's health. It can also lay a foundation for the goal-setting of community health education, the plan-designing of health and the implementation of illness preventive measures, building a comprehensive systematic project for facilitating people's health.This research has two significances: under the condition of good self-reported physical health, people's self-reported physical health and psychological health have a good consistency. To some extent it can prove that: firstly when conducting investigation among a large number of people, self-reported physical health investigation can show people's overall health condition fast and economically; secondly, Kesser 10 psychological scale has a very high validity; people's psychological health in Weihai shares some similarity with many domestic researches. When conducting investigation among a large number of people, it is an easy way to know people's psychological problems.
