Objective: To discuses the mechanism by observing therapeutic action about Capejasmineand Fermented Soybean decoction to depressed model rat, which would provide experimentaland theory basis for classical prescription in treating and preventing depression. Methods: 40 SD rats were divided randomly into 4 groups: normal group, model group, treating group(treating with Capejasmine and Fermented Soybean decoction), and controlgroup(treating with Fluoxetine), and ten rats each group. Late three groups were made throughswimming in the icy water, infibulating tail, cutting off water 24 hours, cutting off food 24hours, reversing day and night, electric shocking the plantar surfaces of toe. In the same time, treating group: Capejasmine and Fermented Soybean decoction was given according to 10ml/kg synchronously; control group: Fluoxetine was given according to1.8mg/kg; normal groupwas done nothing. Observing the changes of weight, detecting the contents of DA, 5-HT,cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, and triglyceride in blood after thirty days.Result: the changes of weight and the contents of DA,5-HT,cholesterol,high-densitylipoprotein,triglyceride in blood show: there are significantly difference between modelgroup and normal group(P<0.05); there were no significantly difference between normalgroup and control group(P>0.05); there were no significantly difference between normalgroup and treating group (P>0.05); there are significantly difference between model groupand control group(P<0.05)beside weight,5-HT; there was significantly difference betweenmodel group and treating group(P<0.05); there was no significantly difference betweentreating group and control group beside the weight(P>0.05).Conclusion: There were no significantly differences in changes of weight, and contents of DA,5-HT, cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, and triglyceride in blood during the treating group, control group and normal group, which improve the Capejasmine and Fermented Soybeandecoction had an effective function in anti-depression.
