Degree adverbs are very important and frequently used in Modern Chinese. The word"hen"is an absolute degree adverb which is used most frequently, and its usage is so complicated that Chinese language learners make various errors when using it in the process of second-language learning, which affect the expression and communication directly. It also brings difficulty to the second-language teaching to some extent.This thesis comprehensively analyzes examples of errors in using degree adverb"hen"in the Chinese Interlanguage Corpus of Sun Yat-sen University based on ontology and teaching research results. According to the grammatical functions of"hen", the author makes an inspection on its acquisition of overseas students, and a comparative analysis on the students'errors during different periods, thus discovering some features of students'acquisition and regular patterns of errors and finding out the learning difficulties for students. Various reasons for errors are also analyzed and the related teaching methods are explored at last in this thesis.This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part gives research origin, the train of thought, methods and corpus source. The second part outlines present ontology and teaching research of degree adverb"hen". The third part summarizes the grammatical functions of"hen"and analyzes the types of errors in combination with the students' examples in the Chinese Interlanguage Corpus of Sun Yat-sen University. The fourth part makes an error analysis on the using of"hen"in the middle and junior degree, discovering some features of students'acquisition and learning difficulties for students, and analyzes various reasons for errors. The fifth part explores the related teaching methods.
