A Study On The Phonetic System And Division Of Chinese Dialect In

Xundian County locates in the northeast of Yunnan province. Its Chinese dialectbelongs to Yunnan dialects, a part of the Southwest Mandarin, within the NorthDialects. There is no research on the division study of Chinese dialect of Xundian.This article is the very division study on the basis of the macro-division theory, inwhich the phonetics materials are the most important grounds, simultaneouslycombining certain social historical backgrounds.Through the voice study of16villages and towns of Xundian, this article settlesthe sound system of Rende town and Jijie town and describes their sound, rhyme andtone system and characteristics. The pronunciation of Rende and Jijie these twostands for the inner differences and dialects’ characteristic. The article compares withother towns and villages the total phonetic features of Xundian Chinese dialect andthe corresponding rules with the pronunciation of Putonghua.After reviewing the theory of Chinese dialect’s division and the standards of thehistory development, the article determines the basis and the division rules: using thestatistics method and comparative analysis method to extract the differences of eachtowns and villages in Xundian County, dividing Xundian dialect into three divisionsaccording to the generalization of the differences among towns and villages and thedivision of geographical administration and the historical cultural background fromthe view of overall scope.Take the language system as the partition standard: the first division are Jijie andTangdian with pursed-mouths and without tortuous tone; the second division areRende and other towns and villages without pursed-mouths and with tortuous tone;and Fengyi with dialect phonetic features of Jiji and Rende is the transition region.Take natural geographical characteristics as the assistant standard: east to theLiang Wang Mountain is the voice region of Rende town and west is Jijie town; alongthe Niunan river mostly the voice region of Rende; the region of Xima River andJiiulong River which are the tributaries of Pudu River is the dialect division of Jijietown. Among them, north to Fengyi is the same as Jijie area and south to Fengyi isclosed to Rende. So Fengyi is the transition region. The conclusions of the above are the same that there are three dialect areas forXundian dialect according to the phonetic system and natural geographicalcharacteristics. The article gives the reason of Xundian dialect combined with theaspect of history and geographical factors from the aspect of dialect’s ownrevolutionary development and the language contact. The main factors of formingXundian dialect are the immigrant of Han people, minority phonetics and thegeographical special features.
