Title:A questionnaire survey of needle-stick injuries and influence factors among tertiary-A hospital's clinical register nurses in Changsha. Objective:Questionnaires were distributed to all clinical registered nurses working in tertiary-A hospitals in Changsha, Hunan Province.(1) To understand current situation of needle-stick injuries among clinical register nurses working in tertiary-A hospitals in Changsha, Hunan Province.(2) To know status quo of needle-stick injuries reports among clinical register nurses working in tertiary-A hospitals in Changsha, Hunan Province.(3) The influence factors of needle-stick injury reports were analyzed by using statistical package, which can improve the needle stick injury report system, offer some guideline and reference for hospitals and related department when they consider formulation of occupational precaution laws and regulations. Methods:The researcher developed the initial questionnaires based on the review of relevant literature. The questionnaires were checked by a panel of 10 experts, the experts were provided with relevant information about the study, the questionnaire was modified by the researcher based on the experts'opinion at last. With a method of stratified random cluster sampling,50% of the whole tertiary-A hospitals were chosen as the tertiary-A hospitals were ranked as ministerial level, provincial level and municipal level (each had 2 chosen respectively), a total of 6 hospitals were selected finally.586 nurses in these 6 hospitals were randomly selected in research according to the proportion of 10%. All data was calculated by using statistical package 13.0. Descriptive statistics, Chi-Square,one way analysis, and multivariate regression were used to analyze the impact factors of needle-stick injuries reporting rate among registered nurses in Changsha tertiary-A hospitals.Results:(1)The incident of needle-stick injuries among the 548 registered nurses is 31.2% nearly a month,49.8% happened when contacted the patients or after contacting. The incident injured by contaminated needles is 65.9%, and all the nurses were needle-stick injured on-period. (2) The incident of underreporting and not reporting reach up to 85.4%. (3)Multivariate non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that,5 statistically significant impact factors were eventually entered the regression model, they were as following respectively:①Do you know prophylaxis procedure after occupational exposure?②Do you know that you must report after needle stick injuries?③You are responsible for the needle-stick injuries and you are in bad luck. ④Do you know the needle injury reporting procedures?⑤Do you think the hospital pay necessary attention to needle-stick injuries?Among 5 factors, item②are protection factors. Statistics analyze showed Chi-Square test, x2=82.638, p=0.000, so the logistic regression equation was statistically significant.Conclusion:(1)Among tertiary-A hospital clinical registered nurses in Changsha, the incidence of needle-stick injuries is 31.2% nearly a month and injured by contaminated needle is 65.9% on-period.(2)The status quo of underreporting and not reporting were serious; reach up to 85.4%.(3) There are 5 statistically significant impact factors of needle stick injury reporting, they were as following respectively:①Do you know prophylaxis procedure after occupational exposure?②Do you know that you must report after needle stick injuries?③You are responsible for the needle stick injuries and you are in bad luck.④Do you know the needle injury reporting procedures?⑤Do you think the hospital pay necessary attention to needle stick injuries?...
