The development of garment manufacturers leads to the rapid development of sewing equipment industry. In recent years, the traditional sewing machine can not meet the market demand anymore with the highlighting of the "labor shortage" and the low efficiency of production of labor-intensive enterprises. With the application of new technologies, intelligent, automated sewing system is becoming the trend of industrial sewing machine. Based on the full studies of the numerical control system's composition and features, this paper researched and developed the motion control systems of CNC sewing machine based on PMAC motion controller.This article first proposed the improvement to the structure of the traditional sewing machine, and designed the CNC sewing machine mechanical structure that with separate upper and lower sewing head, the new mechanical structure can make full use of garment templates and have higher degree of automation. Then this article analyzed the principle of numerical system, introduced three control methods, and identified the details of sewing machine motion control system of CNC program based on the requirements of the project. In addition it analyzed the performance of motion controller, control motor and motor drive required for the motion control system, and determined the selection.CNC sewing machine motion control system uses CNC system with "PC+PMAC motion controller", PC handling system management, human-computer interaction and other non-real part. Multi-axis motion controller directly controls the drives to drive the servo motor and stepper motors and any other real-time parts of implementation components, which achieves the transportation of pieces of the X-axis clothes, the Y direction synchronous movement of the head and the shuttle bed, and the synchronous main movement of the needle and the hook. Designed motor control circuit and peripheral function circuit include the automatic adjustment of tension, the detection to the template edge, the motor limit, automatic cutting lines and so on. It designed the user function procedure in the framework of the overall control program. Parameter settings, all motors back to zero, joint commissioning of each motor alone, accuracy of correction, stability test and other auxiliary functions can be achieved with it.Finally, this article introduced the dual-motor synchronous control system of the nose and the shuttle bed that is a key part of the sewing machine CNC motion control system, and proposed the method of improving accuracy and stability of motor synchronous control in this system.
