With the market of the sewing machine expands and the need of the electronic patternsewing machine ever increase, function and performance index of pattern sewing machineneed to be improved constantly. The paper develops a control system for the electronicpattern sewing machine based on the deeply study of the sewing movement characteristicsand speed needs. Main research contents of this paper are as following:The present research status at home and abroad is analyzed, hardware and softwareplatform are determined based on the control requirement to realize high-speed stitching ofthe electronic pattern sewing machine. The architecture of open control system which basedon an ARM embedded system is used for human machine interface and other no real timetasks and motion controller is used for servo control and logic control etc.The cooperative relationship of the cloth frame and needle’ movement is analyzed;velocity planning of cloth frame and the spindle speed arithmetic are researched in the stateof high-speed stitching. Then the time-optimal control principle is proposed to scheme theframe velocity curve and the minimum movement time. Based on the temporal combiningmodel which is built the method for improving speed is researched from the followingaspects such as cloth frame’s movement, spindle arithmetic etc. At last, the stitching speedcan reach2800stitch per minute.Based on the analysis motion control and assistant function of the sewing technology,control model and program flow char are created, stitch data which is downloaded intocontrol card is formatted, control method and program flow are explained in detail. Data canbe transferred between upper and lower computer rapidly.Test results proved successfully that the sewing speed has been improved efficiently byusing the control methods related in this paper. At last, the whole work is summarized and the solutions are proposed after analysis of the deficiency.A control methods for the electronic pattern sewing machine is proposed,which hasbeen proved the effectiveness for improving the sewing speed without damage the sewingquality.
