In radar, weather, earthquake prediction, aerospace, telecommunication and other fields, the signal field has an important role. The main features of these signals are:real-time strong, high data rate, data volume, Various types of high-speed serial transmission switching technology widely used in these areas. In this article, the author analyzed the related technologies in the field of high-speed serial data transfer, designed a high-speed serial transmission switching system for engineering need. Based on the platform of FPGA, by using PCI Express and RapidIO two kinds of advanced high-speed serial transmission switching technologies, and achieving the conversion between the two technologies, achieved high performance and made good use of effects.First, this paper studies PCI Express and RapidIO two kinds of packet-based transport protocol, Based on the research presented a design ideas of high-speed serial switch module which is based on the transition between the two protocols, realized the design ideas in the FPGA, and then discussed in detail the function and the main port signals of each module. Summed up the technical difficulties of the design, included implemented the packet retransmission mechanism and the short-period reset method of the PCI Express interface in the FPGA, the conversion principle of RapidIO protocol transfer to the PCI Express protocol, reading and writing DMA design principles of PCI Express etc. Completed performance testing on the advanced high-speed serial transmission switching module, test results show that the module can achieve high bandwidth, low latency.Based on the features of data ground dump exchange system and satellite ground receiving exchange transmission, proposed two data flow of the two exchange systems, and achieved all the FPGA program design of the two data flow. Internal structure and data processing of FPGA procedures were discussed in detail, and from actual project applications, analyzed some different characteristics of high-speed serial transmission switching system in the application. Through these two engineering practice, fully shows high-bandwidth technical characteristics of the high-speed serial switching module.
