| As we all know, Chinese lacks of clear morphological markers. Functionwords play an vital role in the grammatical expression. Of which is Adverb is abundantand flexible, time adverb is one key point of function words that express tense category,and it is one of the difficulties in teaching Chinese as a second language, because of thequantity, the complex meaning and flexible using. In this thesis, I selected “Zaiâ€,“Youâ€and “LiKeâ€,“MaShang†that appears frequently in “Words and Characters for ChineseProficiency Level Outlineâ€, to institute their (primary, intermediate, advanced)Inter-language acquisition among foreign students whose first language is English, inorder to better understand the studying process of the two pairs of time adverbs, and thenfind out countermeasures to improve the teaching process. I have discussed the definition of time adverb in modern Chinese, classified timeadverbs according to the “time†and “state†meaning, and described the characteristics ofadverbs of time.By investigating “HSK dynamic composition corpusâ€, we found out the rule of theright acquisition about “Zaiâ€,“Youâ€,“LiKeâ€,“MaShang†at all stages.This thesis described the forms and features of the errors in the corpus. The errorsforms of “Zai†and another homophone “Zai†which means “in†in English at theprimary stage major are mixed;“Zai†the major error is missing at intermediate stage;the error of “You†and another homophone “You†which means “have†in English at theintermediate stage is mixed; and another error is the error when we use the structure of“You…You…â€,“Ji…You…â€. But the mixed usage of “You†in senior stage graduallydecrease, but new error appeared. Like mistakenly generation of adverb which connectthe sentences. The major error that the international student make are: the mixture of is“LiKe†and “MaShangâ€; the misusage of “MaShangâ€, the position error of “MaShangâ€and “Jiuâ€.The main causes of these errors are as follows: Native of negative transfer, teachingmaterials and classroom teaching, learning strategies and so on.We also conducted a questionnaire survey for foreign students; further evidence areacquainted rules of the tow pairs time adverbs. Finally, according to the characteristicsof different stages and specific teaching methods, I make the scientific design ofteaching. |
