An Investigative Research On Social Adaptation And Social Support Of Igrant Children

Nowadays, since the scale of the migrant children becomes increasingly massive, they become the new main force of the transient population. In regard to their social problems, study conditions, living conditions, interpersonal relation conditions and others problems gradually become the focus of the academic circles. Migrant children’s social adaptation proves that their concept and behavior should be adjusted so as to achieve the good adaptation to the new environment. Social support in certain degree plays the simulative role to the social adaptation. From the current domestic research, we know that the migrant children bring us some negative impression, such as social maladjusted problems of migrant children. Researches on the relationship between the migrant children’s social support and social adaptation are little. Therefore, by comparing the migrant children and urban children’s different factors on social adaptation and social support, we find their divergence. Also, by discussing migrant children’s relationship of social support and social adaptation, it helps us to realize migrant children’s social adaptation and development characteristics better. This research uses social adaptation scale for children and adolescents and adolescent social support scale, which are used as the research tool to focus on421migrant children and urban children from Changsha. The result shows as follows:(1) The level of urban children’s social adaptation is generally higher than that of migrant children. They also higher than the migrant children in five factors---studying with self-determination、living independently、having good relationship with others、having a harmonious relationship with others、having social enthusiasm.(2)The level of urban children’s social support is generally higher than that of migrant children.They also higher than the migrant children in three factors---subjective support、utilization of social support and objective support.(3) There is significant difference in migrant children’s utilization of social support on the aspect of sex.(4) Migrant children’s social support and social adaptation have significantly positive correlation in total score and each factor. The total score of social support,subjective support and utilization of social support could significantly predict social adaptation. Migrant children’s accuracy of their different factors of social support’s predicting about social adaptation is higher than urban children’s.(5)There remains one factor about sex influencing the social support besides children type factor. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) For general social adaptation and each factor, the urban children is better than the migrant children;(2) For general social support and each factor, the urban children is better than the migrant children;(3) Migrant children’s social adaptation have something to do with social support;(4) Migrant children’s predictable ability of the social support’s predicting about social adaptation is higher than urban children’s.
