The Investigation And Study On The Phonetic System Of The Dialect Of XinCheng And The Adjacent Dialects

The dialect of XinCheng is a part of the Guiliu area of Southeast Mandarin. Due tothe special location, which lives a lot of ethnic minorities and closes to Guangdongprovince, where people almost speak Cantonese，the dialect of XinCheng presents itsunique characteristics influenced by both minority dialects and Cantonese. The researchfindings on the dialect of XinCheng by predecessors are not abundant, while in1999Mr.Lan liguo who comes from The central national language translation bureau haddescribed the history of phonology of the dialect of XinCheng. However, it has not beenfound that someone has done the some research on both the specific description onphonetic system and the comparison in adjacent dialect point.This thesis has made a comprehensive investigation of the dialect of XinCheng,using the fieldwork system of language, and mainly divided into the following fivesections:The first part is the fundamental condition about the geography, history, nationaldistribution and the use of language of XinCheng, the research status of the dialect ofXinCheng, and the source of material and research techniques of this thesis.The second part is the phonetic system of the dialect of XinCheng, in virtue ofexperimental idea of phonetic pattern, describes the phonetic system of the dialect ofXinCheng, and narrates it from four aspects.The third part is the comparison between the initials and finals of the dialect ofXinCheng and the phonetic system of ‘Qie Yun’, a rhythm book in Medievaltimes,thereby we can see the historical evolution of the dialect of XinCheng.The fourth part is the comparison between the adjacent dialect areas. To comparethe dialect of XinCheng with Liuzhou, Guilin and Guangdong, the consistentcharacteristics between the dialect of XinCheng and Southeast Mandarin will besummarized, so will the consistent characteristics between XinCheng and Guilin,Liuzhou, also the unique characteristics its own.The fifth part summarizes the characteristics of phonetic system of the dialect ofXinCheng though those comparison and analysis above.This thesis applies some relevant methods of Chinese dialectology, historicalcomparative linguistics and experimental phonetics, analyzes and describes the phonetic pattern of the initials, finals and tones of the dialect of XinCheng, comparessystematically with the Medieval phonetic system, finally reveals the characteristics ofphonetic system of the dialect of XinCheng.
