Yangjiang and Yangchun dialects as two branches of Cantonese are very distinctive which possess a unique research value. This thesis is a study of the pronunciation of Yangjiang and Yangchun dialects on the basis of the study of the formers combining with massive first-hand research materials. It is the first time that they have been demonstrated in such a detailed way.This thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one,the introduction, mainly introduces the geography of Yangjiang and Yangchun areas as well as a general profile of these two dialect. Chapter two covers the phonetic system of Yangjiang dialect with a detailed description of its consonant features 、 vowels features and intonation features. Chapter three is about the phonetic system of Yangjiang dialect which covers a detailed description of its consonant features、vowels features and intonation features. Chapter four is the pronouncing comparison among Yangjiang,Yangchun and Guangzhou dialects.By comparision, we draw the conclusion of the phonetic similarities and distinction as well as their relation with Cantonese. Chapter five is a monographic study which mainly refers to the patterns of variant pronunciation of Yangjiang dialect, the front nasal lateral pre nasal of Yangjiang and Yangchun dialects, the intonation of Yangjiang and Yangchun dialects and the attenuation of the close-mouths in Yangjiang dialect. Chapter six, the conclusion, is a general summary of the whole text and some shortcomings about it.
