Shangdu town of Pingnan County,Guangxi,is a Minnan dialect island.Min dialect and Cantonese are the two dialects on the island.Cantonese is such a strong dialect that all the local people can speak while Min dialect acts as a weak dialect is surrounded by Cantonese and mainly spoken in two administrative villages,Yabu and Lufeng.The Minnan dialect of Shangdu dates back to Zhangzhou,Fujian and moved out there from the late Ming to the early Qing Dynasty.Since the relocation of the dialect,the philology of the dialect has changed a lot.On one hand,it still keeps the characteristics of the Min dialect,and on the other hand,it is different from the native dialect of Fujian.This paper makes a detailed description of the phonetics of Shangdu Min dialect from the two perspectives of synchronic and diachronic for the first time.And have a special study of its Yangsheng rhymes,Ru rhyme and the literary and colloquial readings.At the same time,it also analyzes the special a-rhyme phenomenon of Shangdu Min dialect.This paper focuses on revealing the speech variation and its characteristics of Shangdu Min dialect island in the background of language contact,and tries to make a reasonable explanation.
