Acer truncatum Bunge is belonging to the genus Acer. Its kernel has high oil content, therefore the A.truncatum is classified as a new type of woody edible oil plant resources. The test material was A.truncatum fruit of 9 different locations in 5 provinces. We studied they phenotypic traits, nutrient component, vitamin E and fatty acid components. Finally, the quality of fruit was evaluated comprehensively. The main results are as follows:1.There were significant differences in phenotypic traits of A.truncatum.The mean variation coefficient of total phenotypic traits was 20.25%,and varid from 11.35% to 36.12%.The correlation analysis showed that A.truncatum kernel percent was negatively correlated with the elevation. The fruit length and wideth were significantly correlated,so as the seed. There were two types of A.truncatum in 9 different locations.2.The A.truncatum seed in 9 different locations mainly contained oil(mean 43.30%),followed by that of protein(17.40%)and soluble sugar(4.57%).There were varying degrees of variation in the nutrient content, with the range of 4.52% to 22.05%.3.There were 13 kinds of fatty acids in A.truncatum oil, including 6 saturated fatty acids and 7 unsaturated fatty acids. The percentage of total unsaturated fatty acids in the oil varied from 87.05% to 90.16%,among which the major fatty acids were oleic acid and linoleic acid. The variation of each component of fatty acid was highly,in the range of 4.17% to 55.56%.There was a significantly positive correlation between nervonic acid and some phenotypic traits of fruit. The A.truncatum oil rich in vitamin E(mean 68.2 mg / 100 g).4.The LZG,NKZHW,NWS had good quality of fruit. The NKYZD,NKZHW,LZG had the potential to develop protein resources. The LFP,SQ,NKZHW were potential natural resource for extraction of excellent oil.It was indicated NKZHW was a best natural resource for breeding new varieties of A.truncatum.
