As introducing Chinese literature to the world has become one of the most important diplomatic strategies in China, more and more Chinese genre literature works have been introduced to the west through translation. The Three-Body Problem,as one of the most influential works in genre literature translating process, has been widely accepted by western readers. The success of The Three-Body Problem lies not only in the charm of the original work but also in Ken Liu's exact interpretation and rational exertion of subjectivity in translation process. As the latest research achievement of hermeneutic translation theory,George Steiner's hermeneutic motion not only provides a theoretical foundation for the translator's subjectivity, but also offers an new research approach to the study of translation process of the translator. This thesis aims to analyze Ken Liu's subjectivity in The Three-Body Problem through George Steiner's hermeneutic motion theory, explore how the translator strikes the balance between the original text and the target text, the Chinese culture and western culture in the interpreting process, and summarize the translation strategies and methods adopted by him. This thesis enriches the related studies on genre literature translation and the English version of The Three-Body Problem, and makes a detailed analysis on Ken Liu's translation action. This will help us to discuss how Chinese culture can be more acceptable to foreign audiences and how to preserve unique elements of the original work in the translation process,so as to push forward researches on translation and communication strategies for Chinese literature.
